k. well i have a hpi savage 25 (currently has a hyper 21 turbo engine), but tommorow i should be getting my new wasp 28 engine (according to ground shipping that is). but last weekend i ran my last tank of trinity nitro power 20% nitro. it really struggled to die (turn off). i holded the exaust for a really long time. wtf? if its engine problems thats ok cuz I'm gettin my wasp. but it was very very odd. usually i put my finger on the exaust and it dies almost instantly! it did die (shut off), after a long time i holded the exaust. the next time i ran it i was lucky cuz i was almost out of nitro so i didnt have to worry about myself turning it off. is this bad..........? or common?

thanks,
peace,
mark

Sounds like you are rich ion one needle

really? thats cool i thought i broke somethin'. those hyper 21 turbos can't hold a tune then...

thanks.

This is probably the first thread I have ever read abot not turning off. Usally it's (The DAM thing wont stay running). :jk:

pinch the fuel line to turn it off next time. i heard it's bad to plug the exhaust as it backs the exhaust back into the motor choking the motor which shuts it off.

actually it kills the engine by flooding it when you plug the exhaust. the extra pressure is diverted to the fuel tank. this makes it hard to restart the engine sometimes. never stop the engine this way if you plan on storing it, even for a day. the extra fuel forced into the engine will start to corrode the bearings and decrease engine life. when storing an engine, always let it run dry.

the most ideal way to stop an engine is by the flywheel. My LHS mechanic does it by touching the flywheel with his thumb. DAMN! I saw it once and it looks like it would hurt.I am pinchin..

when all else fails pull the air filter and hold your finger over that. That will kill it. :smoke:

that would work but you chance getting dirt in your engine. I don't recommend that.

Flywheel method is the best for your engine as it doesn't do anything but stop it. Its kinda hard if yu want to use your foot (the sissy way lol) cuz u have to put your toe of your show in the hole where your flywheel is. Thats what i do for all my cars.

jon, i usually grab the FW too. but only do it if the engine is idling, any faster and it will act like a saw. when its just idling, its very easy to stop with your finger.

i think i will start doing that pinching method. which hose do i pinch? the one that runs to the exaust? or the one that runs to the carb or both???

thanks.

to the carb dude. get as close as possible to the nipple to get the most accurate result. the further you pinch you wait for the fuel left in the line to burn. I pinch it right next to the nipple.

[said in my best Ren voice]
I just
want to peench
my rubber Neepils.....

Jon if you hesitate on grabbing the flywheel it hurts...if you just do it...you'll be surprised....I still use my shoe if I have my controller in hand though....

I may just try it and I also may be typing with a bloody finger.

it's really a mind over matter thing.....I never did it but have you seen people break a beer bottle over their own head??? This was the all time punk party trick "back in the day" I hate that saying....anyway if you commit to breaking it inthe center of the cylinder of the bottle, you don't get hurt..the bottle shatters before the resistance really hits you.....my roomate learned how to do it....I gave up after 3rd try...figured 3rd times the charm right...I pussed out and just kept getting the "dunk" sound on my pounding head......same principle w/ the flywheel...just stop it quick and you won't notice it......

Or, you could get this handy device: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJYM1&P=7

I heard of people doing this before so I did it before on my buggy, I didnt even think it would hurt, boy was I wrong after 2 seconds( I have a weak finger) it started to burn and wear away the skin, so I had to stop. After that day I have used my shoe.

I just crack the glow plug loose 1/4 turn and it shuts right off. And i found that it starts right up compared to pinching the fuel line or pluging the exhaust. And less painful then sticking you finger on the flywheel.
