Wont Run

I can't get my traxxas slayer 3.3 to run. It does not want to start at all if its cold. I will put a little gas in the carb to get it started. I noticed that there is a small bubble in the gas line to. But when its running it will just cut out and die. Then its hard to get it to start again.

I just switched out the carb to a new one. Then it started with not want to start/run. I have it set to the same settings. The old carb broke so I can't switch them out to see if that's it or not. I've tried giving it more gas and leaning it out. Just seems to make it run worse. I can't get it to hold a idle for nothing.

I'm going to seal the carb up & try it tomorrow. Any other ideas of what it could be would be helpful.

If your seeing bubbles in the fuel line then there is a hole somewhere along the line, air in the lines will make trying to tune your engine a nightmare. Go out and buy some new fuel tubing before trying to seal the carb.

i 100% agree should be no air in the lines . airbuble that is were it looses fule and it dies,had same problem . new lines worked great

If I blow in the fuel line it holds pressure though.

well there has got to be a leak somewhere. maybe a screw that holds it on (the tank) is just a little long and just peirced the bottom of the tank and it's not enough fuel lose for you to notice but it would suck air in .i had it happen .try a different tank it doesn't matter what it is from .(if you have one ) from anyother car or somethingreally does not have to be mounted to the car. I have a peice of wood that i put a tank on and i screw the motors to it and test them off the car so i know it will work.

Any fuel line leaks will drive you INSANE when trying to get it to run right. Check the tank and lines for leaks before you do much else.

Checked the tank for leaks there wasn't any. I went ahead and bought new fuel line the other day. Still notice the air bubbles & it won't run right. I sealed up the carb because that was where the air bubbles started from and worked there way back the line. If nothing else I'm going to order a new carb & tank.

If you have airbubbles traveling backward through your fuel lines then you arent gettign any back pressure from your exhaust...if you were the bubbles couldnt travel backwards through teh line.

I have seen people actuallyseal/ziptie the lines to the outlets of the tank itself leading into the engine, this may help if u mini zip the outlets.

Air bubbles that travel backwards in the fuel line are a good sign the piston and sleeve are worn and the blow-by (loss of compression into the crankcase) is pressurizing the crankcase at exactly the wrong time.

It was leaking around my cooling head. I put a new one on it. I can get it to idle but it has to be just about where the wheels are spinning for it to keep a idle. I ran a few tanks through it today and it wasn't running very good. Would constantly die on me because I set the idle screw back so the wheels wouldn't be spinning when u start it. Was running alot better though after I got it home and was adjusting the carb some more. Still not running the way that it should.

Set all the needles abck to factory settings and make sure you have a 1-2mm gap in the carb....your engine should run at least to some degree like this and then you can fine tune your carb from there.

Just a guess but it sounds to me like you have your LSN set wrong or possibly both needles. You shouldnt have to crank up the idle so high that the kit is almost moving. Either that or the engine is on its way out....How does the compression feel when you turn your flywheel by hand...does it make a popping sound?

Yeah it seems to have good compression and will pop when you turn it by hand. I tried setting them back to factory and by turning the idle screw in was only way i could get a idle. I cut up a library card thats about the size of a credit card to set the idle gap with. Is there anything else I could use to get the 1-2mm? It's raining today so I didn't get a chance to try it after work. It's cooled off here quite a bit since I ran it last could change in the weather have anything to do with it? its like 60's-70's was alot warmer when I was running it before.

well i set everything back to factory & i couldnt get it to fire. Is the traxxas replacement plan the best way to go?
