well i jsut won a bid on ebay for a storm pro, it is supposed to come with the complete pro kit, hyper 8-port, proline dirty harry's on inferno 7.5 wheels, extra wheels/tires, THS off road pipe and header, and extra hing blocks/arms/msc parts for 365 shipped. from the pics it looks in good condition, only time will tell once i recieve it though. so what do you guys think did i pay too much or is that a decent deal? if everything was new it would be about 700+ dollars, so thats why i went ahead and bid on it.

I think you got a great deal. Assuming the conditions is as promised! :)

Matt

send us the link to the completed auction so we ken have a looksee :shy:

looks like a good deal if the engine is in good shape. Congratulations.

For the dent in the pipe, some people have said that filling the pipe with water and sealing the ends off REAL tight and then freezing it will take the dent out. Never tried it myself, but maybe that'll work for you.

That could poossibly work. How I do it on motorcycle pipes is to plug each end with a potato. I then stick the air compressor air nozzle in one side jammed thrugh the potatoe. I heat the dented up are until it is red hot. Then gently add pressure until the pops out. :D

I shouldn't say pops out. I use just enough air to slowly remove thedent without making the pipe explode. The reason I use a potato is that it is more likely to pop out or blow up than the red hot pipe. :microwave:

I think in the wrong hands that proceedure could be very dangerous. You've beeen warned Always wear protective gear, and don't lblame me if you get hot slag on your face. :flaming:

ill have to wait till the buggy gets here to see if its bad enough to require some work. he shipped it out friday from michigan or somewere and I'm in kansas. so probably be here next week? thx for the idas though, i had also thought of somethng similar using air pressure.

Once you purchase a used product never look back. You bid, you won, now have fun with it. When you buy used, you take your chances. If you want to have no dought that its in great shape get a new one. If for some reason it isn't as you expected well, to bad. Fix it and move on.

As it looks you got a good deal. If it isn't a good deal you still have a buggy. That in itself is rewarding.

oh in no way am i having doubts. jsut planning ahead on wether or not it would be useful or needed to fix the dented pipe, as i have heard from some people dents in pipes dot matter and from others it can change the way the pipe pulses the exhaust. hey nothing wrong with planning ahead on making what ill be getting better!

BTW this will be TWO buggys...so that will be even more rewarding...hehe --peace

great deal, a PRO for less then $400 is a great deal, my savage was $370, you got the greatest car ever! :o:

That car looks to be great in the pics. As for the dented pipe, I have used the water trick with great success! Just don't seal the ends to tight, I use electrical tape 4 wraps over the whole & 6 wraps 90 deg. from the others to hold them in place. This gives a little room for expantion & check about every 15min. to 30 mins. till dent is gone. If you cap it to tight your pipe will balloon out & damage it! Let us know how she looks....& welcome to 1/8 buggies :^)

wassup guys....well came home from work tonite and the storm pro had arrived...needless to say it didnt stay in the box for long. ok first impressions while giving it the look-see is that the buggy is in good condition. no major scratches anywere, and had regular scratches on bottom of chassis. only thing is some of the screws/nuts were a little more chewed up than id like...but thats jsut nit picking. neither of the shock towers had scrapes...which probably means it didnt roll very often. tires are basicaly brand new. while adding the servos i had to tweak some of the linkages..they just didnt work right the way the owener had them set up. anyways as for the condition overall i am pleased. the hyper 8 port which came with it looks very new..the engine head doesn't have a scratch on it..and taking the plug out and turning the flywheel it still has a little pinch at TDC...needless to say the mill still has great compression with the plug in. the pipe is pretty dented..but i think i can fix it..we will see. now for my overall impression of a GS storm pro as a buggy..as I've never seen a storm in person. i realy like the desighn of everything on the buggy..and the pro parts are very nice...except 2 things. first is the way the a-arms connect to the chassis via the hinge blocks. i really feel being a pro model it should at least have front and rear hing pin braces that go across and connect the right/left hinge pins. to me it jsut looks like a good hit will cause something to give to easily. and also the rear chassis holes were the rear-most hinge block screw goes thru...there is not much aluminum there. and the other thing is something I've already heard about on storms as a weak point..the rear shock tower/wing mount desighn. ok to me that is a very bad desighn, it is the same basic idea as the way my x-terminator's wing/tower mounts..but at last the xtm has a triangle brace in there. (not that the brace did much..i still broke it first time out and had to fab my own extra braces) i will havto either fab a brace or buy the one i saw online, as i am sure it will break my first time realy driving the buggy. of course everything I'm saying problably doesn't mean squat becuase the storm is a proven performer...is very highly regarded on this forum, and has won races around the world. in all i can't freakin wait to wake up tomaro and tear around with it before i go to work. (hmm maybe ill call in) very nice buggy...

BTW roadrash this is my SECOND buggy in my R/C fleet...hehe

Glad to here you got your storm and are happy with it. I too have one but am in the process of selling it to get a MBX5 just to try it out. The storm was my racebuggy from last year and was a great car. The items you mentioned are a must if you intend to run this car, get the hinge pin braces definately. An I made my own bracket for the rear bulkhead/wing mount. Here is the link to my buggy, you may be able to see braket I made for it. Good luck with yours, its a great ride!!

Ohhhh.... Thats yours eh James... Thats a real nice setup (a ton of stuff!) Someone is gonna get a sweet deal there! I saw your rig just last night on ebay.

I thought...man oh man I wish I could blow this one by the wife LOL! Oh well, I can't have everything hehehe....

I to love my Storm Pro, You know the new Storm's supposed to be out late Feb. right? I just spoke with GS two days ago & they gave me conformation (they didn't promice but its looking good) that the buggy is coming!

Hey good luck with your sale, & know matter what buggy you buy, keep your wheels down unless you don't want too....

Kind Regards, Steve

They say filling the pipe with water, plugging the ends and leaving it in the freezer overnight will pop out any dents. Haven't tryed it myself tho.

ok had chance to run the storm pro for awhile this past saturday. BTW i heard about the hyper 8 port running very well with an OS 20E carb, and since i had one laying around i slapt it on..as i did not want to mess around with the chance of a finicky carb. after starting it up and getting the tune to about 220 and a nice low needle while jsut driving back and forth in a straight line (more on hyper 8 performance later) i started to notice right away...the storm pro handles like mad compared to my x-term!! the brand new pro-line dirty harrys of course helped..but man this thing is on rails. i noticed the suspension was set up very soft at least compared to how i have my x-term setup..but so far i realy like the setup while driving on the bmx track. in fact the way the car handles with its current setup from previous owner was so nice i did not want to bash the storm hard worrying that i would tweak the settings on the suspension. i feel as though i will be keeping this buggy on the r/c track from now on...as it jsut drives so well it deserves better than the beating/abuse my x-term recieves (but i swear that xtm buggy likes that abuse!!) I'm VERY stoked about the an R/C track finaly opening in my area in a few weeks here, and it will be at the same park the bmx track is. i can't wait to do some competitive driving. before i was saying i was worried about the THS pipe being dented affecting performance. well if it did i cannot tell...the pipe sounds very smooth and nice..i realy like the sound...my friend also noted he liked the sound. i will jsut leave it dented..as matched with the 8 port it seems to work very well. the 8 port is a nice mill...at least with the OS 20e carb i had on it it was easy to tune and stayed tuned the rest of the day. at 220 it was making nice power and was fast up top...although my x-term with the 24.7 accelerates faster than the 8 port does they seem about the same up top, givin alot of room the 8 port will pull rpms higher than the xtm 24.7 at least from listening. (both buggys came with an 13T bell) for me and my novice driving skills as a racer this motor will be plenty for me till i have the skill for more motor. in all I'm very happy with the storm and i havnt even done anything with it but light jumping and cornering on open flat dirt and bmx track size corners. BTW now that i have 2 buggys the x-term recieved even more abuse than normal..i guess having this storm as a racer realy makes the word BASHER stand out for the other buggy... -peace
