Sorta made a New Years resolution...

"Get a haircut and get a real job."
Got the haircut. Had been a while, even trimmed my face. Was really looking the part of the "goofy hillbilly."

Been at the same job going on 19 years!. In the past year they have switched my shift probably 15 or 20 times. Before Thanksgiving we were down to 4 days a week. That didn't bother me much. Now I'm back on night shift again. That sux.
Was getting off at 3, almost had supper ready for the 'ol lady when she got home. Almost a normal life. Now I'm sipping on a brew and trying to be quiet, so I don't wake her up. Sounds like I'm whining, doesn't it?

Nope.
Got an interview in the morning. Figure it'll be a pay cut. I'm sorta nervous. Thought it was a sure thing, but I have to pass a welding test. Been welding for over 25 years, always got by, but never had to be pretty about it.

Thanks guys. Didn't go too bad. Not sure if I got it yet. He had 2 more guys he was going to interview.

He did ask me to weld for him. Couple pieces of scrap. Told me to tack them together. Then he turned it around and told me to run a full bead across it. He looked at it and told me to make 2 passes over top of it. It actually looked pretty good. Most of the stuff I've been welding lately is 14 or 16 gauge, so it was a breeze for that heavy steel. A lot better welding machine than I have been using too.

Bottom of the pay scale is almost what I'm making now. And it's day shift.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
