Why?

My friend went from a 27t to a 21t in his drifter and it cut his run time in half... Also the motor gets so hot you can't touch it... Not sure what brand it is. Its like a neon pink color. Any ideas why this happens?

My guess would be that he didn't properly set the mesh.

yeah i accidentaly didnt set the gear mesh correctly on my slash and my battery lasted like 10 mins and i burned my hand on the motor.

If he's using the same exact pinion, that's why. The motor could be drastically overgeared. Tell him to install a pinion that is about 4-5 teeth smaller. That should get him in the ballpark, and increase his runtimes a bit.

it could be that he is using more throttle to attain higher motor rpms so he is using alot more, espescially with drifting.
