I'm seeing several on eBay going for more than a t-maxx?

because they can get RIDICULOUS with the electronics on those things....I'm always very leary about buying used electronics unless I know the person they came from and trust they're maintenance and storing practices.....usually there is a reason people sell electronic gadgets and I find it coincides w/ glitching issues that are unexplainable.....when you look at the cost of a motor/speed control set for those things just that can cost as much as a brand new T-maxx......anytime you go to upgrade your stuff expect to pay premium prices......haha and you thought electric would be easier AND cheaper too huh?......
Don't be gungho about getting the newest gimmicky part an the market as well I think whenever anyone first gets into a hobby like this that is the tendency for most people to follow......this is where a good LHS can help....or a great forum like this where someone sell good servo tape....(shameless plug #2 for someone who will read this soon I'm sure)....

I just like that guys posts......I almost peed myself on a few of em....

Are they designed to only go forward? I have a forward esc now and I noticed most of the upgrades are forward only.

not sure but I think you can get a front diff that will allow more forward freewheel and that will give you more power coming out of turns by letting the front end spin free in the turns rather than driving it around the turn.....this explanation could be backwards....so I'll let someone else runw/ that....
The forward only I believe is because of the racing rules only....and it keeps you from running your motor in reverse......you should (theoretically) get more use from a motor that only runs one way....I personally like to have reverse cause I only use my TC to drift with....and I like making it do hollywood slides and all that fun poop......I really put mine through it's paces so I have more maintenance on my electric car than my nitro stuff.....try putting some PVC wheels on tour tc3 and drive it on the street...it's fun....

plastic pipe like sprinkler pipes....go to hardware store w/ a wheel for your car (no tire) and see what size PVC will fit your wheel and cut 4 chips the same width as your wheel and glue em on w/ that PVC glue...when you drive the wheels won't hook up and lets it slide around....it's drifting all over the place....you can play with different combos of Electric tape wrapped around a front set of beater tires and PVC in the rear and see how it handles differently......I don't race my electric stuff but I try and drive around little cones in my street set up like this and it's fun....it's like trying to be a hollywood stunt driver.......kids get a big kick out of it too......

just make sure you have lots of room till you get the hang of it.
sometimes they hook up and you don't expect it......watch out curb.....also if you take cooking oil and water (I know they don't mix) shake up a spray bottle and srpray a patch of road where you can pass through every now and then, the car goes nuts and you have to try and regain control.....that's fun

Sounds alot like racing on ice (common this time of year) ;)
