I went to my LHS to pick up a new air filter, and they reminded me to not use the one I bought, a Team Associated, at some place. I was wondering, if all air filters are alike, why are some banned?

I hate to say it, amigo, but it sounds like the hobby shop done snookered you.

Air filters, in and of themselves, don't change the maximum potential air flow delivered to the engine, unless if course it has a reduction in diameter somewhere between the outside world and the actual carb, or a super-thick/thin filtering element.

Even then, I still fail to see why an air filter would be "illegal" in a race, unless it's one of them goofy "cold air" setups that stick outside the body, or a "turbo charger". Then I can see why it'd be illegal.

I'm not sure. It was $6. They told me that I couldn't use it at this one race track. Sounds kind of weird to me.

I race at RC Pro Series events and have run ROAR 1/8th Buggy Nats, they tech your buggy/truck at every one, sometimes more than once per event and I have never once seen anything regarding an air filter. www.roar.com has the rules posted as well as RC Pro, they pretty much mimic each other. Why a local track would come up with something so assinine beyond me???

Probably because it didn't have enough blue anodizing on it, Jet. Everyone knows blue = fast.

Well, damn. Why didn't you say something sooner? Now I have to get rid of my purple one.

Rolex, Man don't bother! Silver is way faster than blue! Especially if it says "Integy" on the side of it.

They didn't really snooker me, I got it at a good price (I think). They just made me feel weird about how they said that a certain place won't allow it.

BTW, I thought red = fast?????? LOL

Awesome. Good thing I colored my M3 body red. Haha.

chuck it, blue and silver are both nothing compared to the speed of red. wayyyyy faster. why else would all those ferraris be red? (lambos always come a close second, yellow isnt exactly red, is it?)

reorder a red one. its definitely worth it. youll be zipping past heartbreaks rigs.

Forget red; go with pink. All the speed monkey's run pink. Especially if you run an Integy; the car will peel away from the air filter like an onion as it breaks the sound barrier.

Add in a turbo charger, and you'll be time-travelling ala Back to the Future in no time!

whatever happened to

so you decided to change your mind from blue to pink? when did pink ever become the fastest colour?
stick with red, rolex and youll get a lot further in a lot less time.
[spit] pink, tshhh [/spit]
