Still not sure how I shredded the 2-spd gear, but I'm still digging teeth out. I pulled the diff apart, there's a touch of play in the outdrives, but the planetaries look good. They are greased, should I clean them out and use oil, if so, what should I use. (Two-wheel drive)

What's the best cleaner for removing all the grease from the diff, and the gearbox?

What can I use to clean the bearings, without wrecking them?

I'm switching to hardened steel gears from Robinson Racing to replace the plastic 2-spd gears, leaving the spur gear and diff plastic. So what grease should I use? My lhs gave me Hob-E-Lube Moly Grease P/N HL656 to put in the gearbox, said that is what he ran in his stealth gearboxes. Will that work?

Other than that, nothing is wrong. All of the bearings are good, there's no play anywhere other than the outdrives, but as I said, the diff looks great.

I use Q-tips, cotton swabs and a cap full of nitro, works wonders for cleaning anything I've come across thus far

Some might disagree, but i use dawn liquid soap, dry them thuroughly, then re grease them for the bearings. And use the same soap to strip all the grease and grime from my gears before regreasing. That stuff was made to degrease, so thats why i use it.

Ok, what about the bearings? There's alot of dirt on the outside face of them, and I'd rather not push it into them.

i just use soapy water, put them in, and spin them and wipe them. Then use compressed air to dry.

What about oil/grease. Should I run oil in the diff, or the grease I mentioned above? And is that grease good for the gearbox? I squeeze a drop out, and it's a little thicker than the stock grease, but as posted, the guy at the lhs said he always ran it.

Note that this is the same guys who fed me bs info about my spur gear.

Should I squirt a little oil in the bearings, or pack em with grease?

So, what happens if the grease in my diff and geabox is too heavy?

I use MEK to clean my Truggy and Buggy Diffs, but those are all metal....it melts away the silicone pretty much ;-) Leaves everything very shiny when I'm done.

Lol, I've used MEK before, that stuff will take the skin off your bones if you give it enough time. I like that stuff, but I don't think I'd use it for plastic. I used straight Dawn dishsoap, and the grease pretty much just fell off.
