For my 8ight truggy
I have a picco .26 big block
And a losi 454 .28 big block

This is a guesstimate on my part but Id guess that the Picco is probably the higher quality choice out of those 2 motors being an Italian engine and the Losi being a Chinese made engine. That being said the Losi 454 is a rebadged LRP .28 spec3 which is one of the better Chinese engines thats out there and Id would speculate that it probably has a little more power than the .26. I'm no nitro expert though so others may shoot down my post here but I'm fairly sure thats close to being accurate.

I'm thinking the .26 picco. I run it in my tmaxx and have a .28 in my buggy. The picco seems to actually be as torquey and turns higher rpm. So i think it will do fine on your truggy. Also i agree with greywolf on the picco being better quality.

Ok we'll it needs a new crank so I think I'll order one for it

No it's a discontinued big block its a picco .26 outlaw

Yes Picco made several .26s a few years back. As was said before the Picco is a higher quality engine but the 454 may have a bit more torque. It is really a toss up since the Outlaw is a older engine.... I would try both and see which I liked better.

Which motor is better is the question you asked - depends on what you are looking for in an engine.

If you had a new .26 Picco BB and a new Losi .28 454:-

- wanna treat the engine nice, keep the engine for a long time, race it and are concerned about fuel economy - go the .26 Picco

- if you are not especially concerned about the longevity of the engine, and consider torque is more important that fuel economy - go the 454.

- If they are both secondhand engines - go with the one that is in better condition.

The picco .26 is all you need .......anymore is a part eater. i suggest you to go with the picco .26....

Well I own them both I just need to order a new crank for the picco which is $50 so that's why I was trying to see if it was worth it!

The picco will have just as much torque and will handle the rpm better then the 454. It's got a 14mm crank apposed to the 13mm crank the 454 has which makes it a longer stroke, hence the torque comparison. It is also made with superior materials and will last much longer as well. I'd go with the picco.

Ok thanks for the comparison that makes it a pretty clear choice thanks everyone!
