It doesn't do it right away when I begin to run it. It takes a few minutes then it starts making noise. It's on and off and REALLY annoying.. not to mention it's probably robbing power and affecting run time. But its REALLY annoying!

It sounds like something is rubbing/scratching on to something else. Have you checked everything so that they are in their right place?

I would hazard a guess at a getting-ready-to-blow bearing causing sloppy gear mesh, or perhaps the motor plate flexing. It literally sounds like the gears are tightening up against each other.

well, I know the spur/pinion isn't too tight. It does it every run since the 2nd or 3rd run from brand new. I've only run it like half a dozen times since I got it.

maybe the slipper is too loose?

*edit*

nahh. that would be a whiny sound. It definitly sounds gear-ish huh?

It sounds like it could be the gear cover rubbing on the spur. Try a quick run without the nylon spur/pinion cover on it (your floors look clean enough to not have to worry about dirt).

already done.

I took the gear cover off right after I installed the brushless motor cuz it rubs something and I couldn't figure out what.

*edit*

I also need to make new tie rods. I finally broke one.. Right side.. whooda thunk it? :D

Hmmm... I'll admit, this is a perplexer without havin the car right in front of me... Did you run it with the stock electronics?

edit; a thought; how's the alignment of the pinion/spur? Could be the spur is binding on the non-tooth part of the pinion.

nope, just the stock battery twice then the Lipo. The second or third time I ran the Lipo is when it started

checked that too. I pulled the pinion so I knew it wouldn't catch but it didn't help.

Interesting. Sounds like you may have chunked an internal gear. Have you pulled the transmission for a look-see?

It may seem a long shot but I know the Micro t uses bushings rather than bearings, so...

You know how on some cheap toy trucks that have metal pins for axles? If you spin the wheels fast enough they vibrate and stop moving with kind of a high pitched grinding noise. That might be your problem. It certainly sounds the same.

Exactly my suggestion. A shaft vibrating within a bushing. Try a drop of oil at one point at a time, running the car in between. When it stops making that sound, you've found the problem.

i was having that same problem. i havent run my micro dt in forever, so i don't know if it still does it, but i got the diffs in last nights so soon enough

you havn't run it? WHAT? I love this thing! It's perfect for the house. Makes my rc18t feel like a monster truck in the living room. I like turning left in the kitchin. I put some quick masking tape down earliers so I'd have a line to shoot for.. that's pretty fun. I've been working on "dirt trackin" it. :D

i fixed it two nights ago actually, and while i was i accidently broke a motor connection. my grandfather is officially going to show me how to solder tomorrow night. i know it can't be that hard, but just to make sure i do it right ya know? and there's nothing like actually seeing what you have to do.

So I dropped a little wd40 on the axles. The noise didn't go away completely but it seemed to help a little. Just the fact that it helped at all leads me to believe that it may be just the rubbing of the bushings. I may have to upgrade to bearings if that's the case. What do ya'll think?

It starts off sounding just as bad as before but it tames down some after a minute or so. Bear with me here.. I know 5 minutes of this is boring... and no, I didn't hit the dog. Just a coincidence :)

Yup, sounds like a bearing job is in order. That's the first time I've heard a bushing squawk like that.

That kind of vibration in a bad bushing puts a load on the motor as well as the gears in the drive train.

Learn to make a right, Nascar boy.
