I have an HPI RTR 3 and I want to sell it so bad right now but the only thing holding me back is the fact that I got a 12RSS engine for it. I am just going to buy a starter box for it and that is it. If I don't see some huge power out of this engine IT IS GOING UP FOR SALE !!I tried to do as much as I could do to it. I put in a 2 speed tranny with a lightened flywheel, racing clutch, thicker aluminum chassis and it always seems to load up but never has real power. Can someone please help me with some tips to make this run B'tchen?I really just want to trade it or sell it for a NTC3, OFNA Nitro Sedan or a MSX3 3. HELP ME!!!!:help: :flaming: :censored: 8-0

An OS carb makes tuning a lot easier. As for speed, without regearing, I don't think you're going to beat an NTC3. My brother's NTC3 is stock and is faster than my NRS4-3. He only wants to run full throttle so all I need to do is stay consistant and wait for him to spin out (he generally does, in short order) then I pass him. All out speed isn't everything unless that is what you are looking for. If you are set on selling the car, why shell out the bucks for a starter box? If so, at least get a nice one you can use with what you might buy to replace the sold car. Good luck.

What plug, air cleaner and fuel are you running?

just remember jon - no matter what u do, its still an rs4. although a competent car, it will never be a seasoned racer.

Hes got a good point. The RS4 is a good club racer but it will never become a Serpent or a Mugen-seki. It jsut can't become that good. Sorry but I own one and its soo good for bashing! It can hold its own in a track but its suspension shows its weak points in high bite tracks.

I have to agree with Nitroaddict. It took me some dough to get my Type SS running with the likes of the Yokomo's GT4's and Nitro 4 tec's with the 2.5. That 12rss will only get you so fast. If you don't want to buy another engine the next thing to do is change gears. What do you want? More top end speed for long straight aways? Or more quickness for short track type of racing?

I think I have heard that "your car just isn't competitive" one TOO many times. I am trying to sell my car as we speak to get either a mugen seiki or a AE NTC3. And to tell you the truth I can't find anyone to sell it to!! I am so frustrated with my RTR-3. I thought that with time I would be able to find some seriuos power but instead of doing that I will sell my car then the 12RSS brand new and hopefully have a way to buy either of the aforementioned cars . So I guess there really is no hope for me. Thanks for the insight!

u say u have a hard time selling it, just keep it for a basher.

I have an NTC3 that i race with, and when i bash, the rough asphalt always messes up my race settings, plus i run the mill so lean when racing, that it overheats when bashing. I have often wished that i had a second TC to bash with. I say get an NTC3 and keep the hpi for a fun run vehicle.
