Anyone fitted OFNA truggy wheels to their truggy?

They are a 17mm hex fitment and should fit directly onto my buggy hubs, but do I need the OFNA 15mm or 30mm hub extenders to stop the wheels fouling on the suspension arms?

Can I fit 40 series tyres on the OFNA truggy wheels?

I'd like to use 40 series tyres to keep the gearing sensible but I'm really looking for a spiked tyre pattern for use on grass (like Step Dawgs or Maxx Mulchers) but I haven't come across anything suitable in 40 series. Any ideas?

i got these wheels.. they have the big hexs and the offset so they dont rub..dunno what brand they are though.. and there not 40 series

i think i got um from MR. tmaxx so maby he can help..

Instead of buying just the extenders, get the adapters so that you can use any t-maxx style rim. It will cost you the same and you will have a bigger variety of wheels to choose from.

They may be the same price, but the 17mm is much more durable. Seen some rims stripped with the Tmaxx adapters b/c the truggies are running MUCH more power...on average. I run the Ofna rims and 30mm spacers. You have to check the offset of the rims, Ofna makes different ones. If you get the right ones you wont need the spacers, but for racing I would say use 15mm spacers.

Beason, I have those rims as well....they are from the TTR MT the one with the .70.

Wheels...

I was in the process of building a TTR EB4-S2 based TRuggy, then I was given an Ofna Blazer (free) and immediately canned my Truggy project, but I had asked similar questions to yourself rergarding wheels / tires.

I agree that 17mm hexes are the way to go. The new HPI Nubz are awesome and don't restrict the turning circle. You may have to trim the rear of chassis stone guards back a little. Nubz have 17mm hex fittings are bolt straight onto any Buggy

Here's a photo of the HPI Nubz on my now defunct truggy project

The Blazer comes with two sets of wheels, the "monster" wheels with the LZ Tires are the same size as the Nubz, but they are much wider and a lot heavier

The smaller wheels that the Blazer ships with work on a Buggy with no fuss at all and still offer responsive steering (as do the Nubz)

Hope this helps...

Thankx for the feedback, everyone.

Can someone tell me what the circumference is of a typical 40 series tyre when mounted on a rim?

Buggy tyres seem to vary between 360mm and 380mm, depending on the tread pattern and how worn the tyre is.
