Wheel nuts coming off..... X(

Man, I'm so pissed.... everytime I drive my ntc3 the stupid wheel nuts pop off and my wheel goes rolling and it takes me 10 minutes to find the stupid nut. Any suggestions on what I can do to make them stay on? it happens everytime i drive it, and I got less then a tank in today..

Are you using Nylock nuts? Maybe you need fresh ones.

try alittle bit of locktite i did that to the ones on my Gt since they had a habbit of loosening up on me.. or if anything just get a new set of locknuts

Green loctite NOT RED! And just use a dab and let it sit for 24 hours...

God I hate when my nuts pop off.
I'm a big fan of the nylock nuts. So much easier than dealing with Loctite.

Do they make green? I have blue... I can't stand nylon. All it does is strip and they dont make your wheels tight. I guess everyone has their own tastes.

Ok... what if I'm racing and need to take my wheels off for some reason, and i have to wait 24-hrs before driving again. They will come off.? Ah whatever lol

Loctite takes at least 24 hours to cure right.
Also loctite will not cure if air is in contact with it.
So if you don't clean off the excess it will not cure properley..(IE) if you leave the cap off the bottle it will not cure...Just a little info:breakdown

Hi,


Don't use the locktite!....Just go down to your LHS and get some new lock nuts...they wear out, it happens. Thats why you keep spares. Locktite will just make it impossible for you to do a "quick change" of your tires/wheels. Using locktite on that is the equivalent of sealing your house door w/ cement when you loose the key. Nothing will work better than the right way. Also, check that A) you have the right nuts B) your nuts aren't stripped and C) that your axle isn't stripped...if those aren't correct, you'll never fix the problem.

i run blue locktight on mine every time and have no problems taking them off. i can understand if you said DONT USE RED LOCKTIGHT!! but the blue stuff is only medium strengh and comes right off with the proper tools. i even use it on my engine mounts and stuff.

yeah... I already knew about the loctites... I was just a little iffy on if it would be ok for a quick change. The nuts are not stripped, the axles are not stripped, and I have the right nuts....

I've only ever used nyloc nuts on my wheels and never had a problem.
- However, they done last for ever, and you do have to replace them every 6/8months or so.
- Depending on how often you take then on and off.
