I'm new to RC-ing & wondered whether it's worth upgrading my stock HPI 2.4ghz controller that came with Savage X 4.6?

Wouldn't want to spend crazy money, but interested to know what features/brands I should be looking at. Need to ideally be available in the UK.

Appreciate any advice offered :D

Well, 2.4 ghz is a must. If your just bashing you wont need any fancy features, just something simple. Futaba and spektrum are some of the two most popular brands(In my area). http://www.hobbypartz.com/79p-gt3b-carradio-lcd.html this is a great radio with a huge amount of info/mods throught many forums. RC tech has a HUGE thread on it. The best part is the price. All these should be availible in the Uk, but I'm not 100% sure.\
Hope this helps!!

Will these work straight out of the box with my Savage X 4.6 (2.4ghz)? Or do I have to change the receiver too?

look into a flysky setup they have gotten rave reviews in many forums and absolutely can't be beat for the price. For me the biggest selling point is the insanely cheap price of the receivers at only $8

You will have to change the receiver but the package includes the transmitter and one receiver.

So with this transmitter could I buy it and use if on multiple cars. Does it take the crystals or do you just sync it.

You would just put a receiver in each kit that you want to run and then follow the instructions to switch between them. I dont know own a flysky but is should be pretty simple to switch from kit to kit once they are all programmed.

The recievers for the Transmitter are only around $7 bucks each. There are a few videos on youtube that tell you how to bind the recievers to the transmitter.
