Hey, I'm not new to r/c cars but I was just trying make my decision. I wont be taking this on a track, just on the street or parking lot. And yes I will be modifying it. Should I get a HPI R40 or HPI racer 2? One thing I dont like about the r40 is the foam tires.

What is the HPI Racer 2?

I would think that the R40 is more for performance & racing, not for street bashing. But it is definitely a sweet ride.

racer 2 is a basher... r40 is race... althoughi wasn't real happy with mine... decent car.

i would get the rs4 3

I would look into getting the RTR 3 or even the EVO as it has more options! If you want to have the option to race then go look for a NTC3 Kit

I love my RS4 SS. If you wanna build a kit, get the SS kit. If you just want a RTR, get the RS4 3 Evo. I think the Evo would be more fun for bashing since it's got a quicker engine. There is little difference between the two other than the engine and RTR radio compared to you supplying your own radio with a kit. They're tough cars. I beat the crap out of mine and rarely break it.

I dont like the rtr3, the driveshaft screams. I like the 2nd generation

Ah. I was wondering why you wanted the older one. The shaftdrive will probably mean less worries with debris in parking lots though.

For just parking lot bashing, if you don't mind older HPI cars, the Super Nitro is good for bashing. Larger more stable, with a good motor, and a two-speed you can move smaller cars out of the way. The problem is with the belts, small pebbles can bring you to a grinding halt.

my racer 2 had nothing but PROBLEMS on pebbles. i have a stdium truck.. I'm so much happier belts are a bad thing for bashing

I would go with the rtr3 evo it is a very strong car & you can bash the hell out of it. you can also upgrade them to & it is very inexpensive to do.

Well if you want to have the best HPI basher, get a Super Nitro RS4 and do a .21 conversion and regear it a whole bunch.

The Supernitro would be a good choice. I have one and it's great for bashing and getting a feel for the on-roads. I used it as my starter car and use it for practice. It saves my MTX-3 just for racing. Like kwong said, u can put a .21 and it will fly on pavement.
