So is bear anything like deer? That would be the closest thing I had to it. It looks pretty rich.
Depends some on what they have been eating. A bear that's getting most of its calories wrecking someone's corn field will taste different than 1 that scavenging acorns primarily.

That's the same with everything. Chicken eggs even vary from spring to fall.

I had a coworker, a few years back, who's brother hunts bears. She one day brought in a batch of bear jerky, and, as luck would have it, I was on vacation that week.
To this day, still have yet to try bear meat.

^^THIS! Goes for any other animal too. Deer meat around here takes a lot of prep work beforehand as they eat acorns primarily. Whereas when I lived in Indiana, and those fat bastards ate corn and soybeans, they tasted almost like grain fed beef.

I hear the ones taken from fruit orchards are the tastiest.

I can see that. I can't stand wild hog. But a friend goes down to GA to thin them out on a farm that raises sorghum. He says a small sow (150lbs or so) put in the smoker is amazing.

I feel like there is a sweet spot for any pig. Too small and they haven't put on enough fat to stay moist during the cook. 100lbs + pig things are getting. good

A1 burger and some chiken. Lots of beer cheese.
