i had a traxxas nitro rustler in the past. I've just assembled my first kit. ( drake edition xxx nt) for the motor i chose an os .12 rotary carb. i am however still waiting on the funds for the radio gear and servos to materialize. probably a dumb idea,... i couldnt resist starting the motor to somewhat tune the neddle settings, and throtle it by hand. all went well, had a nice plume of smoke when i blipped the throtle. seemed to be set!!! the next day i decided to start i again. i bump started it and it went to about eight million rpms and nearly threw the rear wheels off the rims. it also, while doing this, blew about half a tank of gas out the pipe. WHATS UP WITH THIS GARBAGE????? anyone!!!

Seems to me the throttle wasn't closed......

Or you had a massive air leak. Was the backpressure line connected to the exhaust?

i am with christian i dont think that u had the throttle closed all the way.
