What size thread is CRANK NUT???? also what is the pitch ???? X

yeah the threads are the same because the trx nut fits it. What I am looking for is the size so I can go get a die and try and add a few threads to this crank

You still have enough threads. The issue is on the inside of the clutch adapter.
Use a roto tool and remove the first 2 threads on the inside of the adaptor. This will allow the UN threaded part of the shaft to slide inside of the adapter so it will snug down tight against the flywheel. The few threads you have will do the job just fine.

On the TRX forum about 6 months ago Alaska Maxx had step buy step details.

Just take the engine with you to check the size of the threads when your at the store. Or you can call Jeff or Troy at Fantom (616-649-9583) and ask them:) If you do call them tell them let us know what they say.

FastEddy I already post Alaska's thread in his other post.

ok here is the link I really thinnk this is a crock. I mean iuts obivous this is an issues with these engines. I don't understand why Fantom does not just make a manufacuting change. How hard would it be to add 3 more threads down the shaft.
I understand you guys say they have great customer service but What about R&D you would think they would know about this issues seeing as how people tring to drop there motor into the most popular truck ever made are having issues.
I personally think we should start some kind petition or something so that we can as a group voice our concern to fanton so that they will make this change.
I know they can make the change becase I have the new ABSC piston and sleave in my motor not the old abc. X

Yep thats the thread I got the info from that I put in your last thread about this problem your having with your engine:) I dont think anyone can make an engine that will work perfectly in every rc out there. Iv had to do Mods to Ofna buggies just to get an Ofna engine to fit right, and you would think if its made by Ofna it would fit in an Ofna buggy right.

You are the first one I have heard of having any issue of this nature. I'm sure if you bring it to the attention of Jeff and his guys they will remedy the problem.

I cut my shaft to three and a half threads (a smidge too long, but I'm too lazy to grind the last half down), and I have not had any problems with mine. I suggest you try the remedy that both Hunter and now Fast Eddy have put forth. It will work as they say.

Other than that, I re-iterate my suggestion to talk with the Fantom guys. You are dealing with a relatively new company and they are more than willing to bend over backwards to make things right. Your call could be all the impetus they need to make a change to their line.

Cool, but he should tell us himself. Nothing against you FastEddy its just nice to hear how things work out.

I think it depends on the engine manufacturer and engine size. My Ofna Hyper 21 is a 1/4-28 whereas my stock t-maxx engine is a smaller thread size (I never checked the size of the threads). One more thing, the nuts need to be slightly smaller (OD) than normal nuts (Matts is going to have a hey day with this type of wording).

Ok first I sent them an emial last night along with links to pics that I took. Never got a response today. No big deal on that front cause they have a disclaimer about email. I did try and call them today and all I got was a machinel. Tryed twice didn't bother leaving a message.

Minus the WOOD. Those birds are wood peckers incase you can't tell. You didn't give me time.
Man I was so pumped that Fast E's Suggestion worked. I did try the drill last night not really ant success. I got a bit that ed suggested for my dremel on the way home and bam in about 2 minutes I had that baby pulled up snug. Lets just hope that the threads hold. Anyway its now 12:30 am central and I just now walked in because I just got finished putting truck all back together. So now I am writing to say thanks. I just droped ed a msg when i came in to take a leak then i had to run over to a buddys and get another motor mount cause mine had a striped hole. So anyway I am greatfull to you guys now chill out before I have to have matts kick your asses.

Thanks again to all of you guys for the help. I just want to add the dremel with thisbit is the way to go it made short work of the thread in the nut and had no issues with it being hard to thread on. X

I dont have red hair:confused: Glad to hear it worked for you. Sense I'm just a wood pecker with out the wood Ill stop trying to help you:)

This forum is full of wildlife,
We now have woodies and peckers, and a picture to prove it :D

That roto bit seems to do it all. I use it any time I need to shape metal.

A special thanks to hunter for finding the artical.
