alright, i was dead set on getting a t-maxx tomorrow, however, as the night has progressed i keep reading up on the tmaxx and the savage 25.however, i have decided that i should read up on nitro vehicles some more and gather all the information i could know before hopping into it. afterall this is going to cost a pretty penny. now, i am not intending on starting a flame war of any kind. i just want to describe what i am gonna be doing w/ the truck and then i would like the suggestion of which would be better for my style. the car is just gonna basically be a toy, take it to parking lots, drive it around the yard,bmx track, worn down moto cross track behind my house, loose dirt surfaces, park, just typical goofing around. which truck would be suited better to me?

I would go with a Savage SS or .25 RTR.

The activities you describe we commonly call "bashing". The Savage 25 leans itself better to the "bashing" environment because the chassis is much stronger. If you take a T-Maxx to the BMX track, you leave with a broken T-Maxx. If you take a Savage to the BMX track, you'll leave with only an empty jug of nitro.

Rob, do you have either truck, no? Well I have two T maxxes, I take them to bmx tracks, rc tracks, bash them hard, and I don't always leave with a broken T. Yes occassionally parts get broken, they will on any truck you bash hard, thats just part of the hobby. I have NEVER damaged my chassis on any of the Ts I have owned, EVER. The biggest problem with a T out of the box is the stock shocks, however the Savages also have out of the box problems, weak dogbones, the SS includes the new heavy duty bones but the Savage 25 does not. The savages have also had fuel tank issues as well as tranny issues out of the box. Both trucks have their strong points as well as their weak points. No matter which truck you go with you will break stuff, and need to upgrade to better stuff. I really like the Savage a lot too, I have had the opportunity to drive them several times and I will also be adding a Savage SS to my rc garage here in the very near future. Either way you do decide to go you will have a ton of fun. If I had neither truck, I most likely would go with the savage. I appologize. I did exagerate a little bit. I don't own a Monster Truck, but I'm in the market for one. For me the Savage's durability and it's out-of-the-box ability to accpet big block engines are the factors that made up my mind to purchase one.

i am with ncnitro on this, i have had my maxx for about 4 years and have never had to replace a chassis or anything of that sort except when i did the conversion. and just like ncnitro said that shocks are probably about the weakest point on the maxx besides the bulkheads.

I own both a Savage and a T-Maxx. Both have problems out of the box. Both are great trucks for bashing. BUT, I'll come down on the side of the Savage.

The newer models (SS kit and .25 RTR) include improvements in a lot of areas that have been mentioned.

Just so you aren't going into this too blind, realize that no matter what truck, car, r/c you buy...you will be spending money on it. Once you start, the need to get better performance...better parts...bigger fun, will drive you to spend.

If you aren't into the budget that nitro r/c requires and almost demands, you may want to rethink your plan. If the money isn't that huge an issue, spend away. Welcome to the hobby. Welcome to RCNT.

The Savage is a tougher truck out of the box but the T Maxx has much more in the in way of after market parts available if or when you want to go faster and higher and......? Buy whichever one that you want, you'll have fun!

I have both and both are great. For SOTCK RTR out of the box performance I like the Savage better as well.

BUT, if they sold real true PRO hopped up models, they would BOTH kickass. Unfortunately, those versions would set you back about 1,200 retail hehehe
