What is your opinion on OFNA

My birthday is just around the bend and I have looking for something to spend my money on, and I have found the answer....:buggy1: These things like tons of fun I have narrowed it down to 4 buggies:

Ofna Hyper 7 RTR= 449.99
Ofna 9.5 RTR=399.99
Ofna 9.5 MBX RTR=479.99
Kyosho MP75 RTR=429.99

my question is out of these 4 which one is most likely the best and durable? Right now I am leaning towards the hyper 7 and mp75 because they are both a pretty fair price and the kyosho is a distant relative of the Kanai right? The hyper 7 seems like a beast with its hyper 21 and I have heard that it is very durable. I would like to know if the rumors about Ofna not standing behind the kits and not having very good warranties and customer support is true?

I have a Hyper Pbs, and have had good luck with it. Most of the negative posts I see on the ofna forum are from people who have no clue of what they are doing. ex. a guy runs 2gals though hyper 8 port, probably lean as heck, and is pissed that ofna won't give him a new motor. Same person swears OS would have because they have a 2yr warranty. Whatever! As for my car I run it hard at a bmx track, and get upto a rc track ever so often and in almost 5mos of running have bent one pivot ball. I also thought about the Kyosho sport, but wasn't sure about the motor(the hyper 8port is a good runner). Also read a review (rcca I believe)were they bent 2or3 shock shafts on the Kyosho in a matter of hrs. As far as upgrading the Kyosho, I don't know if it can be "made into" a kanai or not. I think the chassis may be alittle diff. Plus it would cost more than just buying the Kanai to begin with. Its not on your list, but I've also seen alot of rave reviews for the Hotbodies Lightning. Not sure about parts avail. though.

I have mixed feelings on them. I have seen them run, and they are some of the strongest buggies out. On the other hand if you watch racing the Hyper 7 is the only one raced and it does......ok. With that said parts availability seems to be grat with OFNA, although they don't "make the buggies" they are still of good quality. To be honest all in all i would not buy one. Now that the new Hyper 7 is out, the torsen diff, and PCR parts........hmmm I might change that view because that buggy looks tuff.

I have the Ofna Utra LX Pro, and if I had it to do all over again, it would not be that one. The difference between that and the Hyper is night and day. I drive mine and it is crazy, then I drive my buddys Hyper and it is silky smooth. If you are going Ofna, spend the extra dough.

I have heard mixed stories about the PBS. Personally, If I were getting a hyper7, it would be a Pro, or Pro with 8P.

Warranty and customer support? Dude you've landed at the wrong hobby. The only reason to call on those two would be if there was a manufacturing fault. Everything else is up to you. I think Ofna do what they do fine, offer well matched (or copied) kits, equipped with plenty of nice gear, for reasonable prices. The difference in quality between them and the Japanese kits does exist, but it is so small that it is not worth worrying about.

The Kyosho is nice, and contrary to what someone else said, it is basically the same as a Kanai2 minus some of the nicer stuff, and it is totally possible to upgrade to K2 spec. Thing is, it will cost you an arm and a leg. I think the Kyosho RTR is a great kit, they have fixed one of the major bugs with the old sports which was the chassis - the RTR has a new stronger chassis.

Go for whatever you want, and the one you can get the best support for locally.

Like I said, i'd get a Hyper7pro with 8P included (you can get a package) and then get some radio gear if you can't find an RTR version. 2nd choice would be an MP7.5 RTR.

Bottom line is, have fun with whatever you get

I've got a little over a month and 1/2 to decide what buggy or what new nitro item I would like to get I've got mixed feelings about the buggies on which to get I think that the storm pro kit would be a kick ass buggy, but it costs as much as a tmaxx I think that I am being pulled into the monster truck world right now since my lhs doesn't support any buggies what so ever, now to ask myself the age old question "savage or tmaxx?"

Yeah I just bought a Focus so I am trying to convince myself it is "cool" Plus I love my Colin McRae 3 rally for the Xbox whre you drive the Rally Focus.

Focus's can be pretty badass cars with the proper amount of tlc there is a website called www.sveimageworks.com that has one of the most badass focus's I have ever seen in my life but for some reason I can't get it to work. if you can get on there website check out there orange and gunmetal focus sedan I think it'll convince you that they are cool. As for me I can't wait till I get my stratus r/t

my sisters bf took me on a street race in his car, and we raced a focus that looked stock, but it DUSTED our ass! We were pullling 150 in a tunnel and the car started to get tipsy. the focus can be a badass car.

Not to stray from the topic here.... but err on the buggy/tmaxx thing specter.... I think you would be better off going with a buggy. I have seen too many people start with an MT and end up with a bug, I think its a good idea to just get a buggy from the start. Unless you are rockcrawling (at which a tmaxx or savage can't be beat), the buggy will have the monster under its belt in pretty much every other aspect.

About parts, well if you hook yourself up with a good, fast online hobbystore (plenty in US...), you should be fine. Personally I don't have support locally either, and the online method works perfect, just not as fast. Fact is, these bugs don't break things to quick/too easily anyway.

But ultimately its your call. I think in the long run a buggy would be the go...

On the focus.. I had an ol' CMR2 demo on my laptop.... and I always thought the focus was a sickass car. Part of the reason was the fact that that was the only car you could drive though.... lol.

of the ones you've put up, the hyper 7 comes a pretty good mill and the torsen diff thing is a plus.

i've said this more times than i can count so i wont bend your ear much:

The Hot Bodies Lightning PRO is a great platform for racing on a budget. For little money, you can start racing right away with your choice of radio. Over time, you can build on the durrable chassis to make it more competative.

That being said, if you're going to bash, you should be pretty good with just about any of those. The Storm RTR is also a good basher and comes with a nice radio.
