that doesn't seem to be close. the cooling head has 4 scallops in the side and the one i showed you has 6. the shaft seems to be differnt because its not threaded all the way down. i guess that engine is coming in the original box so ill find out when it comes.

I'm with doug, it looks like the head it upside down! See how there is the unpainted part of the cooling head? As for the engine, I'd agree. It looks like some knock-off job. Oh...and as people try to give ideas, thank them. If you can't tell by Monkey's ..., hes probally pretty pissed off that you didn't say thank you.

Hey...say that five times fast. Probally pretty pissed...Probally pretty pissed...probally pretty pissed...probally pretty pissed...probally pretty pissed! Haha! You can't do that!

Yes, I know that was random. :wasted:

why dont you post up a link to the auction?? Then maybe we can get a better description of it. And yeah It looks like the head is on upside down and is missing the button. Also yeah without the scripting on the side, Id guess its some off brand smartech stuff.

doesn't look like the heads up-sides to me.
- Also, am i the only one who think its looks like it has 6 head bolts?

Daniel

TTR and OS made heads that had the double "key" hole on the head. I don't know if it was for air flow or what, but there weren't any head bolts in those slots.

It almost puts me in the mind of a smartech. Not that I've ever seen a smartech engine, but the lack of markings makes me think it's some off-brand type engine like that.

Am i the only one here thinking that the crankshaft of this engine is threaded because its designed for use in model aircraft rather than r/c vehicles ??

Or am i a mile out with this comment ?

Personally, i would NEVER buy a s/h engine, you dont know if it has been run, you dont know the condition of it at all, and to buy based on a PHOTO ?? beleive me, I've been stung buying on ebay(Mainly when buying bikes). i say when it copmes to engines, steer clear of EBAY and BUY NEW, or from a friend. That way you know the condition of the engine and if its suitable for the intended use.

You can use a Pilot shaft to convert it to SG SHAFT. If it is a big block engine I have never seen a big block with a threaded shaft. If it is a small block like a .12 or .15 then I have used them on my cars before. XXX-NT, and either the NTC3 or the RTR 3.

Still not sure who it is from.

Yeah, I'd say it's some off-brand or knock-off, since the guy doesn't say in the ad who it's from. You might be alright with it until you need parts, then I'd say your SOL, my man.

Just for future reference, ask the seller before placing a bid on a nitro engine. You have to at least know what kind it is!

Sorry, but I'm fresh out of ideas. Hope it works out for you!

Only reason I don't think it's an aircraft engine is because it has a pull-start. I've never seen an airplane engine you pulled to start, but I could be wrong.

Glad ya like it. When ya starting breaking it in? Let us know how ya like it. Oh and btw, what size was it?
