what is the reason

when breaking in a new engine i have read to put foil around it what is the reason for that and when should it be done. "from the start second tank ".
this knowledge would help me alot thanks.

you put foil or something (old sock cut off etc) around the head in really cold temperature. these engines need to get up to a certain temp in order to run correctly and not wear prematurely. if its to cold they will never get there without leaning them beyond a safe level. the foil or sock helps them to get warm easier.

50 or warmer would be ok to run without the foil. temps for the motor might ebe about 10-20 degrees cooler than it would normally tho. which wont hurt it
