I have a OS .21 TM and run 20% fuel and am wondering what kind of glow plug to use like cold, med, med/hot, hot. I got a cold plug but it does not seem to run the best, can a plug temp make more or less power by changing the timing? Thank you in advance Shawn

Yes they do alter the timing a bit. As a general rule they say cold in cold weather hot in hot weather. If you run medium you'll be fine unless it's 90 out. I really love the O'donnell #77 and 100's. #100 is for .21 and up, 77 is for .21 and down. It doesn't matter much which one you get, I use #77 in my .27 when I run out of #100's.

I guess since it's an O.S. engine, you may want to go on the O.S. site and and look for the recommended plug.

The glow plug range does not have anything to do with air temps. Engine size, compression and nitro % determine your glow plug heat range. A .21 on 20% will need a med to med/hot plug.

I'm just saying that you wouldn't want to run a hot plug in cold weather and vise versa. It's in the sticky.

Same. Medium to hot depending on your nitro content. I've been running McCoy MC8's in all my stuff lately (past couple of years). Used to run OS#8's, but found a hair cooler plug works better with 25% nitro.

I used to run hot hot plugs in everything, but found that the cooler OS#8 (vs OS#3) made my stuff run much easier and put out more power. Also, caused less pitting on my piston surface.

Where you get the McCoy's at? Do they make them for the 3.3? Thanks, Hotrodhall

glow plug sizes not heat range are basicly the same. the only difference is long or short. if you have a long get a long, if you have a short get a short. i use mccoy mc8's as well and they seem to work fine.

they say that the turbo plugs produce more power but not sure. they do have plugs with the so called idle bar on them, but i've never used one.
