What engine would fit in a 4.6 savage

Just wondering if i ever need to replace my stalk engine on my savage what other options i have ? any smaller engines that would fit ? or engines that were not hpi just curious if i would have to get a hpi engine or if i could use a other brand

Basically any big block engine from a .21 to .32 will fit with no problems.....

my vote is the picco .28. that thing has the most power of any BB. and AB mods proved it

would the mounts fit or would i have to mod it ?

The Picco .28 has a very standard size crankcase so you don't need to mod your engine mount.

I considered putting the Picco .28 in my 1/8 scale TMaxx because it would have fit my engine mount perfectly. I ended up going to an RB engine knowing that I would have to mod my engine mount because the RB crankcase is slightly oversized compared to most big blocks.

No no... I didn't want to mod it. I just knew I would have to in order to use the RB engine. The Picco .28 would have fit my engine mount fine without any modification to the mount. I did a lot of research to find what engines would fit my mount [it is (was) a 1-piece mount] and the Picco .28 had a very standard size crankcase.

How come you when with the RB instead of the picco ?

I bought an RB .21 for my buggy last year. I was so impressed with the consistancy and ease of break-in that I decided to put an RB in my Tmaxx build as well. I had a little bit of a rough time getting her tuned over for the first time but after I found the right LSN position is was easy peazy. No stalling, stuttering or rev spiking. Just a perfectly consistant idle for it's entire first and second tank. The following few tanks went smooth as well and temps were very consistant. Mixture changes were predictable and not overly sensitive. I recently dropped an RB .12 in my GT2 to finish off my line of raceable nitro vehicles. I guess I'm sort of brand loyal when something impresses me. Same reason I run Futaba servos in all of my rigs. They've never let me down even when they could have. I've seen my $100 Futaba digital servos submerged in water and also had the case broken (not the ears, the actual casing) and both of them still work flawlessly after some dry time and a new casing.

wow impressive once my hpi engine is done i dont think ill be going back to hpi i have had nothing but trouble trying to keep it tuned and from overheating
