Hello Guys/Girls I'm new as I'm sure you can see. I curently own a Savage 25 RTR truck that has been highly modified, Vehicle currently has a Sirio 27 Pro motor in it. Truck will run approx 55 MPH with the factory 2 speed in it.

My question is this, I am getting an older savage 21 RTR truck for 50 bucks, and I have been looking for a upgrade engine for it. Sence I currently have the Siro 27 I was wondering what would be a good engine to put in my new toy. (please do not tell me the Truckzillia 46 engine thats a piece of chit) I have been looking at the collari engines and the SH or STS engines. But please I want everyones opinion on this on which motor you think is best no matter who makes it. Please if you have experience with the engine you are suggesting please explaine your experience with it. Thank you
 
Personally I'd go the STS .28 for sure.
I have STS .12 and .21 engines, they are great. A friend has a STS .28 in his 1/8 buggy and the thing lifts the front wheels off the ground coming out of the corners!! (spool center diff).

Great quality & performance, long life and good price :)
Just take your time breaking her in, they do take a long time to break in but this also seems to translate in to long service life..
 
Collari .32, OS .30, Sirio .27, Ofna/Picco .27, Sirio .30, even the TOP .28 are all good engines... There are more that i missed, but those are all good. There is also the Wasp .28...
 
55mph...{whiiiiiiiiisstle} fast truck....
are you looking for top speed or low end for the othe truck......racer or basher....
 
How did you measure that it hit 55 mph? What gears were you running and which tires?
 
I've had two Wasp .28s and loved both. Some have bad luck with them but they are pretty good, my Savage SS wheelied with that engine, but the powerband was very controllable so I could keep the wheels on the ground when I wanted. I'd go for either the OS 30 or a Collari .32, or the Wasp .28 if you want to save some cash, those run aobut 140 on ebay.
 
Stormer hobbies appears to have a wicked deal on the Collari LC32 .... 220 bucks... dont think you can go too wrong with that one
 
Well I guess I should have described truck a little better Those of you asking about how the truck is so fast. Its pretty basic stuff I run 40 Series Big Joe Tires I have a 19 Tooth clutch bell with a 47 spur gear which gives you a trans ratio of 2.47. Also I run the engine on 40% nitro. Plus you have to remeber this is the sirio pro motor it will turn 49K rpms its not your typical engine. Engine is the Sirio 27 Pro XL (xl meaning pull start version) I run an O.S. 8 plug with Trinity Race Pro Fuel 40 %. How I figured it will run 55? Simply I have a close friend who is a Police officer and he clocked it for me (keep in mind this was with the factory 2 speed) I have not yet purchased a 3 speed for the truck but I am planing on it sence I whipe out a clutch just about every 2 tanks of fuel because of the tall gearing. I have the truck apart waiting on the Werks Racing 4 Shoe Clutch Kit and I figure Ill spend the 70 bucks and get the three speed while its apart. Anyhow thats basicly it. you run a tall tire High RPM engine and a tall gear ratio and the truck will fly (oh yeah dont forget the 40% nitro it helps break stuff and speed) Any other questions or pictures of the truck please ask. I got no problem showing off my toys

Plaid Fish The Other truck is basicly gonna be a beat the poop out of it truck I only got 50 bucks in it so wtf ya know beat it!! I want to put the best engine on market at this time I was looking into the Collari 32 engine but I read that this STS or SH engine is rated 3.6 BHP but only at 26k rpms or somehting like that. I also know that sirio makes a 30 size engine that is bolt in for the savage and I am very happy with my sirio products. I want big and bad and something that will handle some heat and high nitro. (you know I want it all)
 
if you get that truck INSTANTLY get the 4 gear spider mod, with those BIG torquey engines, you will EAT the differentials. if possible, everyone would love to see a savage hit 55mph on VIDEO, sounds like we have some one witha set up that isn't blowin smoke but it would still be fun to see
 
Trust me I got plenty of of rear end toys 4 spider and 8 spider diffs I also have a locker and a spool. as far as video it will be a week or maybe 2 before I could make that happen but I will do my best. Its hard to get a clear weekend for me and my buddy to get togther and beable to goof off ya know Him being a cop and all. In my 25 truck I have broken 2 spider rear a 4 spider rear a cheapie maximizer spool and I have also broke a rear drive shaft from trans to diff completely in half from the power of the sirio 27
 
Best engine one the market? I hear the modded Novarossi .28 8 Port motors are insane. Only like 350 bucks...

Sirio .30 I hear is very similar to the Collari .30 internally.
 
What do you mean by a Modded Novarossi? What does this mod include? is it internal engine mods or are we talking about a mounting or roto start mod?
 
Yea internal mods to the sleeve to allow more flow for more power.

You can get a type of rotostarter for Nova .28s, I think its called tigerdrive or somethin.
 
AC48 Is there any info on this mod you are talking about on a site anywhere or is it the basic mods like all trinity motors need, Smoothing out the exhuast port and sharpening the boost port?


Also you guys with supercharged engines. How do you like it? I know it only makes about 20% more power but 20% is more than the guy sitting next to you at the track has. Anyone with the charger please tell me about it and whats the pros and cons on this item. Thanks Guys

Not trying to be an ass, so please dont take offense to this. USE THE SEARCH! Superchargers, K&N style air filters, cold air intakes, and other such items are not even worth it. They may add "Slight" increase in power, but nothing noticable. Superchagers push the fuel out of the exhaust port faster than the piston can go up and trap it, so in essence, its doing no good except wasting fuel, and more importantly, money. Again, please use the search feature, and it will answer a lot of questions.
 
I don't think any of these oversize big blocks will satisfy your needs since your used to seeing your savage go 55mph. I'd second what AC48 said and try one of the modded Novarossi .28's or just pick up another sirio 27 pro. None of the other engines will come close to spinning at 40K rpms.

You are right I mean I do have a fast powerful truck but, my plan for this truck is gonna be pure off road I want a powerful engine with good tourqe after all the tourqe is what makes your truck pull the wheelies. Like I said in a previous post I WANT IT ALL (I'm a spolied brat lol) I have been doing more research and the Nova 28 that is modified already looks good and also the collari 32 looks good as well and both are under $400 the 32 I can get with roto start for $200 delivered and the Modified 28 will be right around $340 which is not a bad deal. I'm kinda leaning towards the Collari at this point but I would really like to see one perform or talk to someone that has it
