i have brand new plugs and wires. but what does a ground wiring kit do? i have seen them around, and the only thing i can think of is that it grounds the car(as far as electricity goes).

You are right on the money. With any elctrical device a good ground is ideal. A car has many floating grounds. What a grounding kit does is ground your electrical wiring under your hood to one focal point. In essence this will close all" Open Grounds to one point under your hood. This has rendered increase in HP as far as 10 HP. That is a lot more than Intake can do for most cars or any bolt on for that matter.

actually Autozone but same difference. i had to get seat covers cuz the seats were black and faded so a quick fix was seat covers which led to steering wheel cover and floor mats. I was thinkin of putting a cold air K&N intake on it but u say it will restrict air flow? Right now its kinda hard to take pix of things outside because of the lack of natural light in NY, its always dark. If i have the flash on then the pix is dark, but if i dont use the flash then i get a pic thats kinda fuzzy and greyish. maybe if the sun ever comes out i will take new pix. This car has been great, for a engine with 104,000 miles on it, and a 4cyl w/ 16 valve fuel injection the engine has some power to it. But a guy that I have raced has a Dodge RS-X which looks like a Neon but with a body kit, the thing is fast. V6, turbo, blowoff valves dual exhaust the car is sick. anyways jon2 do u have any suggestions for getting some more Hp out of this car? I figure to get more Hp to the street I'm going to get a Clutchmaster stage II racing clutch and a Short shifter while I'm at it. What kind of exhaust system and headers do u recomened? And u say stick to the stock air intake?

Not to pee in your Kool aid, But a probe isnt really a car that can be modded or one that you really even want to waste your time on. To get some serious Hp/Tq your gonna have to drop alot of dough and youd be better off buying a 1G/2G eclipse or a Integra or something of that nature and spend half the money to get more power than a probe ever could. Or if ya dont feel the need to mess with the rice (Like me) you could always do a V8.... :Grunts:: like Tim from Home improvement). In my opinion, I wouldnt stick any money into it and drive it until the wheels fall off until ya can afford something easier to mod. Not to be a dink but when around here Anything thats modded that isnt a import, a Dsm, or a SVT or SS Or hot rods of course, they get laughed off the streets..

A Probe is fine to start off with especially with that budget. Being too picky can end up having no car. The probe has enough parts to make it nice. The JDM verion of that engine from Mazda cranks over 200 horses. No that I am saying a 4 banger can't achieve that. But just like RC cars, to get a RS4 3 to book from its stock trim is still cool. I like the car regardless. Maxx Trooped will learn a few things from this car that he can do to his next car.

As for getting laughed off the streets. I love imports and I still laugh at the wanna be's. A true car enthusiast will have their car worked on from the engine on rather than the looks. Remember that a "pretty cool looking car" is pretty useless if it doesn't drive well. I prefer to have my civic having a kick ass engine first than having it look cool but can't drive it far enough without the Check engine going on.

I like imports as well. But not ones that are seriously exterior decorated. I like sleeper look, Ya know like Black car with black rims and a polished lip. Slight tint. My 240sx is dark blue but its getting painted. The guy thats selling it to me is doing alot to it. Their is a huge dent in the left rear side by the gas cap. I wish i could get info on the KA. I dont know how much is through it. Jon or any of the other guys, How much could i get a nice KA for? KA24DE that is. Thanks!

Why not get a SR20 at least?I am sure you could get a tranny with the LSD installed. Price wise never really looked. Let me look around..

haha, you'd know i'd love one, but they are way to expensive for a guy my age. but thanks for bringing it up. they are 2700 for a front clip from ardperformance.com. i will save. then put on an Apex'I N1 exhaust, and go from there. I need to get some brakes though. I'm thinking about going to the junk yard and seeing if any 300zx's have any on them still. do the conversion. ok jon, hit me up if you got a sr20 around your area you know for cheap, with something blown or something, and tehy dont want it anymore. i'll take it!

How do u know that it can't be modified? Have u owned one? there are a lot of aftermarket parts for the probe. F*** the eclipse there are so many of those stupid cars around, the only reason why they are popular is because of the Fast and the Furious. A V8 in this car is overkill, its F***in stupid. A V6 2.5 Probe has enough power to get u up to 160mph, stock, which i good enough for me. My probe is a 4 and i have gotten it clocked at 126mph and the speedometer goes to 120mph. Also its a 1993 and its stock so getting it up to that I'm happy with. I want something different that u dont see 50 of when ur drivin around. Unless u got statistics to back up what ur saying, i dont wanna hear that "get more power than a probe ever could".

U probly dont even have a car, and if u do its probly some S***box. I'm pissin in ur Kool aid.

Maxx Trooper, whatever is said just know that everyone has an opinion. 4U2NV has the right to explain his opinion as do you. I know that my Probe has attained speeds over 160Mph. fun but dangerous. too risky to do on public roads. GO to a track and see what your labor has done for your car. I know you will find plenty for it.

I am sure you know this, but Motorex imports and changes the emmissions one Sky's. the 32, 33, and 34 I think. No four doors, for some unknown reason the DOT has some crazy standard on Sedans that these Skylines do not meet. I wish I had 50k to buy a used car from '96! How funny is that?

It was proven on Sport Compact Car that placing an aftermarket air intake does reduce power . If you had read up on that you would know that when air is being drawn in there is something there that by just removing or bypassing the Mass Air Sensor ( Thank you for that )won't fix it. You still need to get your ECU reprogrammed to allow more air. Not sure which issue but I will try and dig up an old copy for you.

This statement is true for the most part but you can modify the MAS to allow more air without upgrading the ECU. Basically you cut away sections of the sensor to allow better air flow and simply trick the ECU and increase the amount of fuel to compensate.You can also take it even further by cutting 90% of the MAS out to allow allot unmetered air to flow to the engine but it isn't recommended without some sort a fuel management or gauge's like the A/F or EGT.If you don't get enough fuel you'll lean it out and blow it up. I had to hack the MAS in my Talon and upgrade the fuel pump to allow me to run more boost without hitting fuel cut. Before I hacked the MAS I could only run 15lbs and after I hacked it I run 20lbs without hitting fuel cut.It doesn't sound like allot but the extra 5lbs makes a noticeable difference.I'll try to find the article I read on how it all works and why it works.It explains it a little better than I can.

Here are a few articles on hacking air flow sensors. I believe these are strictly for DSM's but I don't see why it wouldn't work on cars with similar setups.It's allot of reading but it's should help explain how they work and how to mod them to work better.
