LOL to all of you guys. I had the same type car. Mine was a 93 ford probe gt. Looks like you have been visiting the Pepboys shop. If you haven't found out. adding an air intake will be produce less power as the air sensor is too restrictive. I gave up on that car and moved onto an acura integra but that is a sad story all by itself. Post better pics of the car.

Man I love my acura, Whats wrong with yours ? Will post some pics later!

It got hit by a silverado.

Yeah I was pissed. I have a Honda civic hatchback now waiting for an engine swap. Just have to get the internals I want in it. I am not into just slapping exhaust and intake just to make my car humm and be louder thus annoying. No speed there.

actually Autozone but same difference. i had to get seat covers cuz the seats were black and faded so a quick fix was seat covers which led to steering wheel cover and floor mats. I was thinkin of putting a cold air K&N intake on it but u say it will restrict air flow? Right now its kinda hard to take pix of things outside because of the lack of natural light in NY, its always dark. If i have the flash on then the pix is dark, but if i dont use the flash then i get a pic thats kinda fuzzy and greyish. maybe if the sun ever comes out i will take new pix. This car has been great, for a engine with 104,000 miles on it, and a 4cyl w/ 16 valve fuel injection the engine has some power to it. But a guy that I have raced has a Dodge RS-X which looks like a Neon but with a body kit, the thing is fast. V6, turbo, blowoff valves dual exhaust the car is sick. anyways jon2 do u have any suggestions for getting some more Hp out of this car? I figure to get more Hp to the street I'm going to get a Clutchmaster stage II racing clutch and a Short shifter while I'm at it. What kind of exhaust system and headers do u recomened? And u say stick to the stock air intake?

Ummm, I'm sorry but I'm not aware of any intake tubes that actually decrease power, Even the 19$ deals at AUTOZONE are benifical. Your saying that it decreases power due to the MassAir Sensor? If your using your stock sensor from your stock intake tube, just adding the cone filter and aluminum tube, You are going to see better performance it smoothes the airs path. True it will benifit more with a larger M.A.S but to say it wont help any or even decrease power?

It was proven on Sport Compact Car that placing an aftermarket air intake does reduce power . If you had read up on that you would know that when air is being drawn in there is something there that by just removing or bypassing the Mass Air Sensor ( Thank you for that )won't fix it. You still need to get your ECU reprogrammed to allow more air. Not sure which issue but I will try and dig up an old copy for you.

As far as adding performance I would suggest getting the head ported and polished and then work form there as I see lots of kids by all these bolt ons buy an ECU programmed for what he or she has on there engine but then have a port and polish job. WASTE OF MONEY.

I actually like to make it stock looking as possible. So I would try Comptech exhaust. Greddy and Thermal R&D amd all those huge cans are too much of a flag for cops to see.

Please don't add on just exhaust and intake. If you want real power do some research and be smart on the road.

Jon, you are correct you can't just remove or bypass the M.A.S. But I will have to argue with Sport Compact on the issue. If they said an intake tube dosnt increase hp. Bullshit, I've seen to many dynod to prove the performance gains. Go outside take your exhaust and beat it with a hammer till its all matted and bunched up and see if you lose performance. Why would they mandrel bend exhaust if a smooth airflow would decrease power? And yes Incoming and outgoin air its all the same.

I do see your point Joneser, and I would argue the same thing but I can't explain to the point I want. I do know that they do have a point. The tube is a smart idea but the MA sensor prevents the system to accept all the air.

Let me do some research

Jon
