cany verify but i have seen people running lucas red n tacky in their gear diffs in an attempt to slow gear stripping which seems to be common for tamiyas gear diff and "hop up" oil filled units but once their diff gears strip they move to metal diff gears. now with oil for your diff since you have a 2wd truck and you are bashing grease is really all you should need to use, however your truck is not meant for asphalt pavement etc, it is meant for offroad (dirt), terrain changes will cause you issues regardless of what you use. with that having been said for a 2wd vehicle i recommend 5k to 10k in the diff of a 2wd, in a 4wd w/o center diff, i recommend for bashing 3k-5k front and 5k-10k rear, for 4wd w/center diff, i recommend the same f/r fluid weight as for previous 4wd but with using 30k in the center diff. this is just a recommended starting point for bashing but in the end it is going to be up to you to find your sweet spot or find others runnign in similar conditions. also note that weather affects diff fluid so if you are in or runnign in a hotter climate ( lets use texas/oklahoma as an example) go with thicker oil than if you were in a cooler climate. thats the best I've got to offer you or anyone with a similar question of course in all honesty it doesn't matter if your bashing all that much but when you are racing that is a different matter. one more important point of note this is regarding tamiya specifically, if you are not running tcs ( which 99% of usa residents are not) tehn just use kit diffs with metal gears if available and automotive grease, no reason to buyoil filled diffs and if your tamiya came with oil filled diffs i recommend at least changing the plastic gears to metal ones before even worrying about fluid weights or grease, also you might want to know tamiya today is NOT like tamiya of the 90's, quality is down, support is honestly not very helpful with troubleshooting anymore they just want to throw replacment kit parts at you not understanding ( even if you point blank tell them in an e-mail and provide links to hundreds of forum posts of the same issues and the solutions for the problem). but like i said before bashing doesn't really matter what you use and although we can offer you a base starting point at teh end of the day it will be up to you to find what works in your applicationa and in your climate, what works good in tx/ok wont work as well on the east coast or west coast
