what chassis to convert to Storm-UT?

You could start with the RTR chassis, but make sure it's the grey-ish colored chassis of the RTR plus. If you're intending to race, you might want to do yourself a favor and get the Pro chassis. It's a little more than the RTR+, but it's worth it.
 
not racing just considering building one to bash with the son. bought him a RTR plus for xmas and thought that building a SUT we could share some spare parts... in hunting came across a blue chassis. but could swap out for the RTR plus chassis... why not the blue anodized?

The blue anodized is from the first generation of storm RTR's. In my experience that's the weaker of the availlable chassis. You're better off with the RTR+ chassis at the very minimum. It can be had for around $35 on ebay.
