Would you guys think this is from bad mesh or the combination of a stock Traxxas c/b against an RRP hardened steel spur. I thought I had the mesh ok,it wiggled only slightly against the c/b but maybe I was wrong?

Sounds like your RRP did it. I tried a RRP spur for my savage and a stocl HPI bell and it slowly grinded it away. I bought the RRP bell and it never happened again.

Also you may have got some dirt while under power to come between the two.

thats why i dont like steel spurs. although i do have the rrp c/b and spur on my maxx.

I had that problem once... running a narrow hardened spur against a standard CB for a plastic spur. I think the only reason yours is lasting at all is because the RRP spur is wider than the one I tried.

I don't think there's much you can do other than buy a hardened CB to match your spur.

I just thought of this. Is your CB Bearing sloppy?

Traxxas clutch bells suck. Get the RRP hardened clutch
bell and some new bearings. Just make sure that you
clean the grease out of the inner bearing so the clutch
shoes wont get soaked.

yep, I'd agree with that.

nope, it's not new but it's not terribly bad.

I'm gonna go to my LHS today and try to pick up a better c/b. Thanks everybody!

Well, they didn't have a hardened c/b. Big surprise, that Hobbytown freakin' sucks. I just picked up another stocker for the moment. I want to run this sometime in the next couple days and I'm impatient :D HOWEVER, they did manage to sell me the wrong size bearings... yay. Idiots.

when i had my rustler i never ran robinson racing i always got the traxxas steel stuff that they made and i never ever even came close to stripping out anything.
