Just did some reading on this thing and saw a video. Thought I decided on the Savage X, but this looks badass. Is this thing tough, user friendly for a somewhat newbie? Should I be getting this instead?

yes team associated has very durable and powerful trucks i have mmgt 3.0 and savage x my savage has toar up twice in a month but i've had my mmgt for 3 now and haven't had to do a thing but drive and have fun so mgt 8.0 is a must have truck

The MGT 8.0 is awesome. Started and ran great straight from the box, had loads of power even before I started to tune it. I did have reservations about the size of the cooling head, (it doesn't seem big enough for that size mill) but it is unfounded.
Its a great ride......

Yeah, I'm trying to decide between the mgt 8.0 or the new savage 5.9. (Check it out too). If you hear anything new on either please let me know.

I'm wanting to get an MGT 8.0 as well, but after having built a Savage X SS and seeing the quality of the hardware, etc... I'm really wanting to get the new Savage XL. I'm sure I would wait for the SS version though. I guess the only way I'd be satisfied either way is to get them both.

There's a good article and review of the MGT 8.0 in the RC Driver magazine that I got last week. It's the April issue. It's a new subscrition so I know it's been on the newsstand for a few weeks, the May issue is arriving now in people's mailboxes. Anyway, I had to check but it's on page 54 of the April 08 issue.
