It's looking good. You've got a good bit of material left to trim on that escalade though. The course is looking good, now you just need some big boulders to give you a challenge.

its actually not to bad. i can get nearly full articulation and just barely get to the body. but thats without the shocks compressed. I'm thinking of making a mod to the rear end to bring it in a bit on each side too.

once i got the motor and stuff installed tomorrow i do plan to trim it a bit more, but not sure i ll have to do too much. but time will tell the tale.

I think you're pretty close. What will happen if it's not trimmed enough is when you get on the rocks, and one side compresses up into the fender, the tire will catch on the fender and when you drive, it will cause the axle to twist just a hair, which will be enough to strip the set screw out of the rod end. The axials already have a bad problem with this, and all it takes is the tire getting hung up on the fender a little bit to stress that rod end past the "breaking point" so to speak. Trust me, I had a bad comp Saturday because I was stripping the rod ends. Ended up going through about 5 rod ends. I'm going with a new chassis setup, but what was aggravating it was the tire rubbing the body. I trimed the body, and went from pulling the link out in 20 to 30 seconds, to lasting about 3 minutes. We were on some nasty rocks. I was running the new XC-1 Axial body, so I didn't think I needed to trim it. Boy was I wrong, it has fender flares that were catching my tires really bad. Once I trimmed it, it was like a different truck. I ran my last course so good after I trimmed the body, that it allowed me to pull from last out of 18, to 8 out of 18.

That's because you got into a dam panty tussel with the judge, and kept backing up just to show her that you could lol.

That douche, even all the guys said i didnt hit the last marker. Grrr. At least my rig made it home in one piece. Well, yours did too, but my pieces werent hanging. lol

LMFAO. I suddenly had this vision of alpinehyperlite thtrowing his controller on the floor and yelling "You cannot be serious!!"... You'd never do it, I know but the vision was still as funny as hell :P

is it just the stock lower links on the AX-10 that have problems stripping Charlie? Or are you running custom ones? What kinda thread are they using for them?

I'm running bent links. It's because of the way that the stock axials articulate. They have a lot of articulation, and we were on some serious rocks with huge gaps between them. When the axials articulate, the axles twist a little bit instead of flexing straight up and down. That's why I keep stressing that too much articulation can be a bad thing, and I've learned that's why most guys limit their articulation. My rig would articulate enough that the axles would twist from the center line, which caused one side of the axle to go towards the back of the rig, and the other tire to go towards the front. Although it's a slight twist, with the torque my rig had, it would just rip the threads right out of the rod ends. I ripped stock rod ends and then upgraded to revo rod ends and ripped them too. My body was catching the tire which aggravated the situation more, and once I trimmed the body I went from breaking after one or two gate, to almost making the whole course.

It should be noted that it was a hot chick who happened to be sitting in for the judge on a water break, and she's the one that pissed him off. She was nice, but he got pissed when she called him hitting a gate that he didn't hit. After that, he was pissed. In rock crawling, or at least in our comps, the judge lets you know when he marks a point, so there's no confusion or saying that your score is bogus at the end of the day. So she would say "reverse, 1 point" and he would take it as a personal vendetta, like she was rubbing it in his face. It all started with the gate incident though.

It should also be noted, the hot chick was a hell of a driver, and she won the comp.

I haven't seen a sporting event or judged competition yet where the judge didn't make a mistake somewhere, sometimes it for you, sometimes its against you. It happens, and Saturday it just so happened that it was Sarge that caught the bad call of the day.

Oh, I thought it was the chik after the comment about hygiene products lol. Oh well, I had a lot of fun, I'm looking forward to the next comp. But I'm really looking forward to getting my home course built so I can just step out in the backyard to tune my rig and test different setups, and it will be fun to crawl just for the hell of it, without a timer or points.

heh, i ve meet plenty of male Douches!!! lol

infact the Silver Lake Racing Team (bajas), we re calling ourselves the DOUCHE BAG Racing Team. lmao

i made a mod to the rear of the Escalade to eliminatet the chance for rear rubbing. i still may need to trim the front a bit. will post a pic up once its pretty much done.

Still, I've been in some very hairy positions when i rubbed, and my body is chopped all to hell. lol.

few shots of what we did on the 4th. along with cooking some burgers and chips and party favorites.
