Shop around man. Don't give up on you're Savage dreams. People sell used ones all the time and usually fairly cheap. i picked up an old Savage X for $250 bucks once. The engine was toast but always assume that when buying used. The rest of the truck was in real good shape. I dropped in a new engine and ran the hell out if it for a couple of years until i got My Savage XL.

Bullet w/a few pics
My Bullet runs great.. It was an impulse buy that I don't regret @ all, I`ve not REALLY bashed it much, but the few times I've run it I haven't been disappointed @ all. I'm kinda taking it easy till my LHS has a bit more stock on parts.
As for the Savie/Bullet question I'd go w/the Savage if $ wasn't an issue, but the stock Bullet really is a great little 4x.
Just my $.02

I think after my readup last night I am going to pop down my hobby store (they have a test track) and ask to test them both. that'll make up my mind lol

Ok I would officially love to own a savage x but that £400 price tag is £200 out of my price range :( I dont like buying second hand items especially not mechanical. So I would rather but new. I am going to keep an eye on my money though, and see if i can get £400 together

Just come across this, it seems way to good to be true, seems to be in perfect working order and appears as if parts are supplied for fix. opinions please?

That truck itself is an older model X if I'm not mistaken. I'm also not sure what the conversion rate is right now, but without a vid of it running you have to assume the engine is toast, so I wouldn't pay more than $275US shipped. Remember theres no returns.

If I were you I would post in the WTB section on this website that you are looking for a used, but well maintained savage, and see what comes along.

The problem is that I am in the uk and I dont know if I would get anyone around my area on this site?

Looks to be in about the same shape mine was when I bought it. I'm not big on all the aluminum stuff on it but that's just me. The thing is there is nothing like a Savage for it durability and toughness. Even if the engine is toast you're still gonna come out on the better end and still be within you're budget depending on what engine you decide to go with. If it were me I would jump on it. Yeah it would be nice to have a video of it running or be able to see it run before you buy it but it's a Savage. It already has the bulletproof diff upgrage. The 3 speed conversion is an easy upgrade to do and there is nothing that comes on the XL that won't fit on this one so it is infinately upgradable. If you can get it for a good price I say go for it!

How much does the 3 speed gear box improve acceleration / top speed?
I tried to get this answer from my local hobby shop and he was sat there looking like a retard lol

after doing some research I am actually thinking of importing one, there a lot cheaper to import for me (depending on postage)

As long as it isnt left hand drive lol

Hey watch it, I am left handed. Top speed and acceleration depend on what clutchbell and spur gear you decide to run. I'm currently running a 16t clutchbell and 49t spur gear. I get insane wheelies on take off and my top speed is upper 40s that's mph not kmh. I'm running an LRP .32 Spec2 engine. Great little mill by the way i highly reccomend them if you get the chance to grab one in the future.

Those silly folk across the pond sit on the passenger side of their cars when they drive (kinda like my mum,) it
s this difference hes referring to, not making fun of lefties.

Besides, only lefties are in their "right" mind....

lol, nice pun. anyway, thanks for all the usefull advise, i have decided to save up and get a brand new savage x 4.6 :)

unless someone here has a decent second hand one:)

Ok this might be a silly question, but what is the difference between savage x and savage x ss

I'd guess the ss isnt rtr but I dont know since I dont know what comes with it:P

You're right in that the SS isn't a rtr, it comes as a kit. The X4.6 comes as a rtr, it comes with, IMO better beefier tires and single big bore shocks at each corner. Just personal preference but I like the X4.6. The Savie is a "no lose" choice, though. It has enough speed to be fun and is damn near bulletproof. I own two and will probably never get rid of either of them.
