A feller here in Topeka is wanting to trade an E-Maxx for one of my cars. What are the pros and cons of this truck? I was literally saying like just yesterday that I'd like a 1/10th scale monster truck.

An E-Maxx was a hot truck in it's day. The problem is it's day was a long time ago. If you're looking for a monster truck I would recommend a Maxx. It's well supported and will be in production for a long time into the future.
I know one of them trucks are the best thing, HOWEVER... I am a bit short on cash, and I've always been fond of the T-Maxx, and the E-Maxx is it's electric cousin.

Then you should go for it. They're pretty decent trucks. It won't be as tough as a modern truck but it will drive good. It'll be a fun truck.

Keep in mind there were a couple three variations of the E-Maxx. The first was the twin motor brushed motor version with black chassis, then came the same setup with the gray chassis, along with the single motor brushless version.

This is an original, twin motor, black chassis.
Can the old Novak ESC take LiPOs?

TRX-4M or Slash 2WD.
Ahhh… Well hell, I suppose I’d have to know what the vehicle is, AND know something ABOUT said vehicle… 😅🤷🏻‍♂️

Hey man, if you’ve had a soft spot for a Maxx chassis for a while-go for it.. Just be sure you can get parts for whichever one it is; as was already mentioned-there have been several renditions, and they go back to over 20yrs ago.. 😉

There’s a well known stipulation around here however; if ya end up with an old Maxx, ya gotta do this to it… 🤩

😅🤷🏻‍♂️

Id go for a 3905 over the 3906. The emaxx is long out of production. Tge tmaxx share most parts. The chassis and transmission will be an issue.

I've got a first gen E-Maxx. Twin brushed and twin ni-cad with a shiftable 2 speed. It's a blast at the beach. Downfall is the weight. It's heavy. Solid truck and a ton of options as far a customization. My LHS said lipo's will break driveline parts.

Ain't nothing a tmaxx drive train can fix.

If it is the original I wouldn't do it. I had one and it broke a lot. The shocks bent easily and that front bumper skid plates breaks every time you hit something. Its fun for bashing around in some dirt and tinkering with though. I looked into upgrading about 5 years ago and it made way more sense to get a different platform instead.

id slap him for offering up a traxxas. then slap him again cause it was an emaxx (basing that off my hatred of the tmaxx)
then again you could unload a slash. and i hate the slash more than the t/emaxx so id be down with that deal depending on how built up both trucks were.
idk anything about the trx trucks but I'm sure id i wouldn't like them (friggin portal axles:angry:). but a monster truck is more versatile than a trail truck so there's that. just not sure id want an outdated monster truck. parts/aftermarket support is probably still decent though, so there's that.
you know what. i can't believe I'm saying this, but id probably trade as long what I'm getting is close in monetary value and functionality to what I'm getting.

Alrighty. Before I get it, what should I check on it? I know shocks, wheels, electronics, what else?
