I was driving vxl. And for no reason i lost reverse. I checked settings no reverse on 1 or 3 .
#2 is race mode. Is my esc partially fried?

Setting 1: 100/100 throttle and reverse
Setting 2 (race): 100/0 throttle reverse
Setting 3 (training): 50/50 throttle reverse

I don't know if its fried. Try setting it back to Setting 1. Do you still have brake?

Maybe flip the throttle channel on your radio to reverse, then try, if you have reverse in forward position, then it might be your radio instead. If not, and you have forward in the reverse trigger position then yeah its likely your esc. Traxxas might replace it if you have a purchase receipt.

I have tried resetting. Brakes work fine. Thats wats odd.Just my luck!! This vxl was given to me. Missing rear tires n rear shock tower. $75 later i have a beast. Upgraded towers. And pinion.

I dont get why i have breaks but no reverse. On mode 1and3. Would like reverse but not that important. Would i gain speed and power from running 2-7.4v 5800mah lipos in parallel or would that
Just give me more run time? What about in series? Or would that burn up my motor and esc?

You have to be careful. The esc can handle upto 3s lipos (11.1v).

You would run them in series I believe. That would give you more run time and a little more power I think.

Running them in series would make it act like a 4S 5800mAh pack would would fry your ESC.

Running them in parallel would make them act like a 2S 11600mAh pack which would be fine but all it does is doubles your run time.

Thats what i thought. No real gain. I used a mph app on my phone and I'm only at 37mph max. I want faster...

parallel also gives a slight speed increase, but nowhere near what series would do.
But yes 3s is the max. the stampede can be geared higher with more capacity.

With the right gearing and a 3s LiPo you will gain almost twice that. But be careful to watch the temps of your motor and esc!!!
I would recommend one of these

Thats pretty good gearing for 2S. If you go to 3S you'll want to watch motor heat. You may have to gear down your pinion a bit. You can't get close to the advertised 70MPH without some serious upgrades or overheating your VXL setup. You can probably get it up to around 45-50MPH without taxing the VXL system to bad but you'll need 3S and good street tires.

True that!!! I was sooo disappointed when my slash wouldn't go 60 or whatever they advertise!! But 3s will get
Your temps up there pretty quickly. As far as tires I have heard great things about the Proline Road Rage tires.

I actually went up a tooth on my mERV VXL's speed pinion to keep the heat in check.
