Can anyone direct me to where I can get the complete VRC game and a decent controller without breaking the bank? I can't bring myself to spending $120 on a game and then however much for the controller on top of it.

Sure, go to ebay. You can buy the game for about $35 new, and you can buy a USB adapter to use the controller that you already have for around $30. That way you can practice with the same controller that you will be using in real life. You will be amazed at how much fun we have and how relaxing VRC can be, yet it will improve your driving tenfold.

I'll check ebay and see if i can't get it there then. BUT, I dont have a "computerized" controller. I still have the old AM 27 Mhz controller. I been in the market for a nice DX2 or DX3, guess I'll look on ebay for one of them also. Thanks Charlie.

You can use your AM controller if you want. The USB adapter just plugs into your receiver so you can use whatever system you have. I'm using a JR XR3i, and frankly I don't use any of the programming features on it. I've been thinking of switching to my cheapie HPI AM system just so I don't hurt my other one. I already broke the throttle spring once on it playing the game.

ok, so i buy the game and the usb adapter. Then there's a plug that connects to my receiver that will read what controls i'm doing? interesting indeed.

Yup, the USB controller has 2 servo plugs coming out of it that you plug into channel 1 and 2 of the rx and power it. Then you just use your tx like you normally would.

I am interseted in getting into this. Do you need the top of the line computer to install this? I have an older one and I don't want to get it and find out it won't work.

Go to the VRC website (www.virtualrc.com). They have a demo that you can download to test your computer. It's only the oval and you can use your keyboard for now just to see how it behaves. Try to run it with different graphics settings and # of AI cars to see if it will work.

I tried the game today and I had to do some undercover work. My graphics card didn't work for it, so I just used a program called 3D Analyze to emulate what my graphics card didn't have. Of course the game won't look like what you saw at a friend's house, but at least you get to play it.

Hmmmm, 3D Analyze eh? Think i'll have to check that out, I have a few programs that i just miss the needed specs. Time to go downloading!

It doesn't take a very big card at all, so try it like normal first griemar and see what happens. Some guys are using the Traxxas TQ3 radio system, it doesn't take anything fancy.

Yeah, basically you just need a card with hardware transforming and lighting. That's the only thing I emulated.

I have the demo and it runs fine (even though i SUCK w/keyboard, lol). I wanted to check that program out for some other apps i run that have issues. Maily Second Life, I'm a DJ there.
