voltage question????

can i use a 7.4v lithium battery as the receiver battery without burning out the receiver or servos????

If the receiver has BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuitry) in it, then you can safely input 7.2 volts. It will reduce the voltage fed to the servos down to 6 volts.

However, since that's 7.4v, I don't know how well the BEC would handle it over time. Especially since the BEC is actually a resistor, it might pass the servos something like 6.05v, which might be just a hair more than they can handle.

If your receiver has that feature, it will say on the label "BEC" or "Battery Eliminator Circuit".

If you cannot find it, then it may not be a wise idea to use the pack, as it will fry your servos. Perhaps contact the maker of the receiver and ask them as to the safest maximum voltage allowed?
 
Yes and no. First, what rx? You can get a 6V voltage regulator and your fine, just have to watch the drop. Once the battery itself gets to 6 volts or under it will act funny and your charger may not like it. LiPo's can be funny like that. I run 7.4V lipo rx packs straight, but I also run Nomadio and it can handle twice the voltage. Servo's are fine as well and the personal transponder.

In the manual it says power supply; 4.8v-8.4v and BEC maximum output is3.0A. that means i can use up to a 8.4v battery right???

i have the HITECH AGGRESSOR in the manual it says power supply 4.8v-8.4v
i am familiar with lipos, they not to be drained all the way. i also fly planes
i just dont want to burn up the receiver or servos
 
I would defer to Jetmech on this one; you should be safe, but he's got the experience running lipo's as RX packs...

You should probably run regulator. The HiTec servo's I'm using are known to take about 9 volts without issue, the steering servo in particular is a robot servo

A voltage regulator? Usually near the aircraft stuff, at least that is where my LHS has them. A Main also has them as does HT Batteries. N/P, on forums typing in all caps is considered yelling.
