I haven't had good luck w/ running digitals w/ my 3PM (edit: AND A FAILSAFE)....i don't have one right now.....but my track is enclosed and I only run on the clay......dicey but I had more glitches from the failsafes than w/o......I run 8611s for steering and S9451 for throttle servos...3 RCs all set the same w/ the exception of the HRS Rx in my truggy and it has built in failsafe.....I should probably swap that Rx to my buggy when I'm not being Lazy.....

You do NOT need a programmer with your digital servos.
Yes Run your failsafe.
Yes Test everything well before your run your RC.
 
No you dont need a programer, but setting them up is IMPORTANT. Make sure that they are not tring to go too far and burn them selves out. If you get some come on back and others more in the know than me can help!
