Story:
One day a customer came to me with a watch that i know you can buy at wally world for $6.95.
He wanted a battery for it which our minimum is $8.95 plus tax. He said ok cool do it.
I did it and he was on his way.
4 months later he was back with the watch and now it needed a band.
I looked and looked and found one for $9.95 and he was happy and on his way he went.
At this time his watch war just nasty as heck and i didn't want to touch it anymore.
Another 5-6 months went by and sure enough here he comes with this watch again!
This time he wanted me to do a crystal, battery, band. I told hem sir you do know this watch is $6.95 at Wal-Mart right? He replied yes i know.
I turned around and dropped it in the trash can.
He says why did you throw my watch away? I said hang on a min. So i put up a ill be back in 5 min and closed down. I then lead him to the watch counter and made him buy a stainless steel timex they had on sale for $24.95 and he was on his way..
Yes i did this and its not made up.
2 1/2 years later the guy came in for a battery and to tell me thanks for what i did. I didnt want to take his money and have him keep putting money in to something that is not worthy.
Only then he had realized to difference in quality and was happy to have a timepiece that did just that "keep time" and not have to worry so much on repair cost.
So i really recommend you take everyones advice and scrap what you have and get a new kit.
Most rtr kits are around $300
And if u see you use toilet paper rolls again i will find you and sneak in in the middle of the night and take all your TP
