Good to hear it's coming together bud. Yeah the clinking noise in a motor is never really a good sound. Hope it works out for you. Keep us updated. Best of luck bud. You'll get there. We all started somewhere and you don't become a expert overnight so take your time and patience and you'll be alright.

+1 to this. It's taken me a few years to get the hang of it, I have no friends with Nitro rigs so I've learned everything from reading and/or you tube.

thanks guys!
I might send my pop motor back so they can inspect and hopefully get a replacement, but If I'm going to send it or not.

other then the motor its great it's in the best shape ever,
I'm eagerly waiting for a bunch of packages, and I'm about to order and ir temp gun so I do stuff righr without mistakes!!

Do what you can. Dont worry about "name brand"

Trust me guys, I am ALL ABOUT taking nitro vehicles and turning them into beasts. I'm pretty damn good at it...but we are talking RedCat/Exceed, and that is a whole other realm. It's pretty much toy grade. I know that as it was my first nitro rc. I put EVERYTHING in to it, and at the end of the day, it was what it was.

Smitty, it's not what you want to hear, but I'm just telling you the facts. You are throwing your money down the drain upgrading it. I don't normally recommend used nitro vehicles, but if you are apt to rebuilding something, at least get a used ofna hyper 7 or something. I just hate to see you keep circling the drain like this. There is only so much you can do. If/when you upgrade, you'll know what I mean. ;-)

I know where your coming and I agree with you, but I only want to put another like 50 into it to complete it. and if you think about it a lot of the stuff I have will all be usable with what I get next. not all of it but a lot will.
and I learned a lot from this, now I'm very comfortable with it, I just have to work on engine care

Story:
One day a customer came to me with a watch that i know you can buy at wally world for $6.95.
He wanted a battery for it which our minimum is $8.95 plus tax. He said ok cool do it.
I did it and he was on his way.
4 months later he was back with the watch and now it needed a band.
I looked and looked and found one for $9.95 and he was happy and on his way he went.
At this time his watch war just nasty as heck and i didn't want to touch it anymore.
Another 5-6 months went by and sure enough here he comes with this watch again!
This time he wanted me to do a crystal, battery, band. I told hem sir you do know this watch is $6.95 at Wal-Mart right? He replied yes i know.
I turned around and dropped it in the trash can.
He says why did you throw my watch away? I said hang on a min. So i put up a ill be back in 5 min and closed down. I then lead him to the watch counter and made him buy a stainless steel timex they had on sale for $24.95 and he was on his way..

Yes i did this and its not made up.
2 1/2 years later the guy came in for a battery and to tell me thanks for what i did. I didnt want to take his money and have him keep putting money in to something that is not worthy.
Only then he had realized to difference in quality and was happy to have a timepiece that did just that "keep time" and not have to worry so much on repair cost.

So i really recommend you take everyones advice and scrap what you have and get a new kit.
Most rtr kits are around $300

And if u see you use toilet paper rolls again i will find you and sneak in in the middle of the night and take all your TP :D

agreed and great story. I agree with you, 100% but you have to fact in that there could be sentimental value, or attachment.
if my dad died, and gave me his. I wouldn't care how much went into it.

and trust me I'm not doing much more upgrade wise to it. but it was my first, I've learned everything on it, and I'm not getting rid of it. I have to make due with it for now, as my priorities have changed, and I now have to focus on fines. but I love my truck, even if it's redcat, I'm happy with it, and I enjoy it.

but yes I am about at the limit for it

about the tp... that roll is still on there for air flow works great =p

Also, last night I ordered a medal slotted brake pad a medal servo arm and a ir temp gun! I will now be keeping an extremely close eye on my temps of my motors.
