I did it to a TMaxx a few years ago. Kinda nifty project but it requires a lot of $$ to make it usable. To be quite honest with ya, the only way I'd do another multi engine vehicle is if it was a full custom project. I don't recommend multi engine conversions.
 
I have a hard enough time tuning one lol. i couldnt imagine two. Seems like they might work against each other if they arent tuned right.
 
this is true... basically, if they are not tuned closely you will eat clutch shoes.. and that's just the damage that you can see.
 
if you want that power just buy a race tuned motor. they are probably the same cost as what you would spend on a twin engine rig
 
a twin engine rig would look pretty good.... and well if Rolex was to make 1 tuning wouldnt be a problem because he doesn't drive them anyways
 
I just sold mine, theres a thread somewhere around here still, DONT DO IT!!!! You will spend an hour (once you get good at it) tuning the engines together, then after 2 tanks, which go quick, one is dragging again, I admit it was the funnest RC I have ever been anywhere around when it was dialed in perfect, BUT I was ALWAYS tuning, and tuning, and tuning just for mabye 20 min. of run time then back to tuning. you get crazy torque, alot more than you can get from a bigger engine but unless you are doing pulls, it is not worth it at all.

do both engines run on one tranny?

i realy wouldnt do it unless your doing pulls or its gona be a shelf queen because they will cause such a problem because well its double everything like double the tuning wich would be hard as hell to keep them in tune plus the its going to cost a bunch dto do this
 
Heres a few pics of a Sirio V-twin design that utilizes a single carb to feed this beauty that would accent any project nicely and would eliminate alot of problems like dual tanks,dual carb linkage setups,tuning probs and killed clutches

There's no way that engine is more that an elaborate thought experiment. No chance in hell it'll ever be able to run.
 
The two pistons would have to run out of sync, so what ever piston is first gets all the juice from the crankcase. But hey maybe they found a way to push 5 strokes through a 2 stroke crankcase.
 
V twin 2 stroke snowmobiles have been around for years. Same concept, isn't it? I don't understand why it wouldn't run if the 2 pistons rotated 180 degrees apart. While one is expending burnt fuel the other one would be taking in fresh, wouldn't it?

I'm not sure what the heck you are talking about. I don't see any reason why the engine would not run properly. It all comes down to the design of the crankshaft and how the air passes from carb to cylinder. I sort of think you're assuming that one engine is getting air at 0* when the crank is lined up (traditionally) with that cylinder and that the other engine is getting air at 90*. I would think that that type of setup would be improper. It makes sense to me that the crankshaft in that engine probably distributes air to one cylinder at -90* rotation and to the other cylinder at +90* rotation. This way the cylinders are receiving air from the carb at the exact opposite angle of crankshaft revolution.
