Hi,

I bought a Turnigy Accucell-6 off HK, arrived today.

I didn't buy a power supply for it. Tried it with a Tx charger (rated 0.2A LOL) and of course it immediately said "INPUT VOL ERROR" and beeped at me when I tried a 1.0A charge.

So I'm currently using a car battery charger to power it. The charger is rated at 6A, but... I'm suspicious. It might have load sensing circuitry in it to charge the car battery "nicely".

Basically I'm trying to charge a small Rx Lipo pack. 2.1Ah 2S3P Rx Pack. It says on the battery it can handle 2C, which would be 4.2A. However if I try it at even 2A the charge amperage spikes initally to nearly 6A and fall back towards 2A! There is a tiny buzzing sound and it says either "INPUT VOL ERROR" or "BREAK DOWN" and beeps at me.

I have it running steady now at 1.5A.

So I take it, the car battery charger is simply not putting out enough stable juice and I should get a proper 6A or 10A power supply?

Cheers,
Paul

EDIT: Hmmm. It just broke down again. Amps spiked up on the battery charger and the buzzing noise returned and it said "Break Down"

I suspect the car battery charger is trying to drive amps into the 'battery' and the Turnigy charger can't handle that.

Bummer. Just hope I haven't broken it.

There you go, glad I helped...lol

Apparently it turns out, according to NightFlyer you need a car battery to ballast the car battery charger. So...

Car Batt Charger

12V Battery

LiPo Charger

I'm assuming the problem I was having was the car battery charger was trying to force load the LiPo charger and thankfully it aborted before it melted.n Could wrong though.

I have that same charger and I run it off a hobbico power supply and I love it the best 33.00 I ever spent...:first_place:
