Hey all,

I recently picked up a TRX4M Bronco to use inside during the winter months. Super cool little rig, but I have a question about its drag brake performance. I have checked the manual and am aware of the different modes. In crawl mode 3, it is supposed to have hill hold brakes at neutral. It will almost do this on a steep incline, but it definitely won’t hold at a full stop. Am I expecting too much of this? I am running the stock high range gears.
Thanks!

Video below should help.

Drag brake slows it down when you release the throttle, like dragging your foot on bicycle. Hill hold looks like 100% brake as soon you release the throttle

This is a function mostly of the ESC. A drag brake/hill hold only slow/stops the motor from turning. It does not keep the tires from sliding. If you have hill hold on and it's moving, look carefully are the wheels turning or the tires sliding?

Funny you should post this, I previously reached out to the poster of this video and asked him a few questions. I think what it comes down to is adding the bearings throughout the vehicle reduces the driveline friction enough that the hill hold no longer works. It will almost hold, but will definitely slip and it’s not the tires skidding, the wheels are spinning.

Hadn't heard that one, but I guess it's possible.
