Traxxas UDR VS Losi BR2

I picked up a UDR as a father’s day gift. It’s really cool, just doesn’t do what I’d like it to very well. The suspension is too plush, gets overwhelmed rather easily I find. While TRX did give it 6s electronics, it definitely feels like it’s overmatched on 6s. I’ve already broken both front cvd’s and wore out a rear driveshaft. Then I realized the fix, which for me was shorter rear limit straps, and adding straps to the front.
The UDR has more droop than the drivetrain can handle. Also, the rear trailing arms are way too soft, looked like bananas after a half dozen runs on 6s. It’s not a bad rc, just overpriced and underwhelming performance wise I find.
I’ve named my UDR Humpty Dumpty, LOL.

Yea, IMO neither of these two RCs or really any scale oriented trophy truck is known for being a great basher like say some of the short corse trucks or better yet some of the more hard core bashers like the MAXX , XRT , X-maxx, etc.
The UDR is really not designed for any sort big air jumping or tricking.

You’re probably right, I’m likely expecting too much from it. It floats over terrain like no other, just need to keep it at realistic speeds. I guess I’ve grown accustomed to what my other rc’s are capable of, unrealistic speeds.. I definitely won’t be getting rid of the UDR, but rather run it less than I intended to. I run it around a backyard track, nothing crazy, has a step up/down jump that generates maybe 2-3’ of air. Perhaps 4s is what the UDR needs, I tried it on stock gearing but was pretty underwhelming.

Yea, I typically run my UDRs on 4s and if I do happen to have 6s in it, I am still not really bashing it more scale or realistic as I can make it.
Just love watching my trophy trucks. I just prefer watching a trophy truck RC doing its thing looking as scale or realistic as possible.

I use to take at least 3 sometimes 4 slash RCs to the track, could always count on bringing home at least one and few times as many as 3 came home with something broke needing repaired.
I definitely drove those a lot more aggressive, especially when racing for the win . Lol 😝

If I am Just going out to hit jumps and simply in more of a bashing sort of mood, I tend to grab a couple rustlers 4x4s , sometimes an X-MAXX, or MAXX .

Overall, I really prefer my UDR or BR2s , and I have been building my home track with those trucks in mind as the primary style of running I want to be able to do on it. Essentially nothing on the my home track is all that likely launch one into space no matter how fast I hit the jumps. Lol.
Rarely ever break anything on my UDRs or Baja Rey’s.

When racing buddies with my SCTs slash, TT pro etc, I still tend to break them. lol Even on my home track. lol.

This was week or so ago, track is still really rough in spots.
