Anyone seen these FTX 1/7 scale 8S UDR / Maxx Slash knock off sort of RC?
Least to me it looks like what they were going for with this truck.
It’s not cheap, it’s more expensive than a UDR in US dollars looks to be around $850.

Best I can tell these are only sold and distributed in European countries. ???
Seems like sort of a cross between a MAXX Slash and a UDR .
I think it’s made in china ?

Just curios about them, since I am a huge UDR fan.
Based on what I can see in these pics and videos, it’s an interesting looking RC .

I am going to guess the purposefully misspelling Firestone as Firestorm in typical Firestone script , just smells like a typical China trick dodging paying any sort of licensing fees.

More like a Maxx Slash than a UDR.
Yea.

Well, I was giving it the UDR nod for its scale bits like the extra rear tires mounted on the back, all lighting it comes with.
Then there’s the driver and navigator on the interior with other little details all very similar to the UDR.

The clip on body and suspension seems more Slash like.

I wonder if JConcepts has a trademark on their Firestorm tire name lol

Knock off? No. Short course truck in trophy truck's clothing? Yes. But it is most excellent looking indeed.
I don't know why I even came in this thread. I knew the rabbit hole 🕳️ thing was here, and I fell for it anyways. 🤔😁

I agree it’s a good looking , very Intersting new truck .
Since it’s not offered in the US , and paying $850 plus shipping, customs fees taxes etc I am betting it takes at least $1000 US to get one imported into the US.

In the videos I have seen of it, I looks impressive. Without seeing it in person I can only speculate based on its origin that it’s not truely on par with a UDR or MAXX Slash, the general reviews on other RC from the brand, quality seems a bit questionable. But this model seems pretty durable at least on camera it looks like it.

Genuinely I am curios to learn more about.
I hope a few of the UK based RC channels on YouTube do some deep dive reviews on it.

Yes it is. It's still almost $800 though. FSR is the OEM FTX doesn't actually make rc cars all of their stuff is rebrands of Chinese models for the UK market.
But parts are hard to source.

Thanks, very interesting.
FSR branded versions has lower prices in general.
Plus a much lower priced 6S version as well as the same 8S version.
I am guessing the FRS version is likely easer to import as well?
The tire branding seems a bit schizophrenic. LOL "Toyo Tire on the rear fender" " BFGoodrich on the front fender"
Paint scheme seems to mirror the original red UDR at least the red version looks very UDR inspired.

The name on it changes from Apache to Runner.

I don't know of anyone who sells FTX and ships to the US so I'm assuming it's much easier for FSR considering you can buy them from Aliexpress.

Looks like these have made it to the US and are for sale on Ebay.
Shows shipping from CA.
Still the price is a bit more then I would have expected for China knockoff of the UDR.
Its only $50 less then a real brand new UDR. Or $50 more then a UDR for the 8S version.

I don't understand why people keep comparing this to the UDR. The UDR is solid rear axle this has independent rear suspension. If anything it should be compared to the Mojave. Plus this isnt a knock off. To say this is a knock off of the UDR then the Mojave must be too.

I think one looks a lot like a UDR, it is in the 1/7 dessert racer class which I believe Traxxas created with the UDR.
It’s not really a clone but it seems clear to me who the competition for this new RC is meant to be.
I am far from the only one that sees it as UDR competition.
Competition is probably a better term for it than knockoff.
