Take the glow plug out and turn the car over to see if you've flooded the cylinder with fuel.
Gases compress, fuel does not. Too much fuel in the cylinder and the piston can't move. Damage can happen if you try to force it.
Since you have smoke... stop.
Make sure your carb is set correctly to factory settings before you try to start again.
Also double check the battery. Dying ez start battery will ALMOST turn the engine over but no full rotate or very slowly.
The low voltage will not heat the glow plug either, it won't start.

ok I've done all those things, engine isn't flooded. I'm assuming there might be too much compression cuz the engine stops at the top of the stroke when the glow plug is making an air tight seal

You can try warming the engine with a hair dryer or heat gun. That will help it loosen up and turn ovet easier and faster. Your motor might be new and tight. there might be somethimg else going on too. Don't go crazy, just heat it so it turns easier. Even heat on all sides of the head .
You need to invest in a temp gun for nitro btw.

Ok, I will try that! But I don't want to be doing that everytime I start the engine... that's pretty impractical. and wdym by temp gun?

Stay with trx motors. The better options for this truck need to be expanded first.

You keep mentioning the glow plug hitting. If that's the case I'd check for the copper swims. I think ones on the glow plug and another under the head for certain fuel types. I'd also check the top of the piston for damage.

just checked something, the EZStart gearbox and motor are for the TRX 2.5 and I have a 3.3... maybe that's why it's struggling?

Its a digital thermometer. You'll use it pretty regularly in rc. 👍
If the shims are there and no damage, how does it turn over without the head on it?
I don't know much about the conversions. I remember talking about them all the time on rcNITROtalk.com tho. 🤔
Search 2.5 to 3.3 conversions from years ago and see what you learn. 😎

I just tried starting the engine, I'm using a glow plug igniter and glow plug is lighting, I have fuel and the engine is primed. I'm getting air to the engine and good compression aswell! still not starting

yes I have, but I noticed that when cranking the engine and putting my finger over the exhaust no fuel goes into the carb. I read aoenthing about heating up the nitro and putting some through to break down some of the oil that has hardened in the fuel lines

can I remove all the fuel and exhaust lines and clean them with isopropyl alcohol??

ok, so I can just remove all the lines from where they connect and flush them with soapy water?
