SweetDiesel, Brice Arnold, Ted from DarkSoul, and I went out this weekend and raced our Traxxas Slashes. We only had them for a week or so and didn't have much experience driving them. There were I believe 17 Slashes in the class. We ran 2 heats with 7-8 cars in each. For the Main we ALL RAN TOGETHER in one giant heat. It was all out war and carnage. Fun was had by all. I placed 10th Ted 12th, Dominic 13th and Brices transponder didnt work.

Had to get that last pic in there didn't you. Hope she's not a driver, she'd be the winner for sure, LOL.

Very cool.

Now I wish I had done the wrong thing and went.

Looks like a great facility.

I had a great time racing with you guys yesterday. Norcal ran a great program, and I wish I had brought my TC to run between heats. The racing facility is first class, with the outdoor offroad, dedicated outdoor onroad, dragstrip, and indoor 1/12th and 1/10th carpet track it was a RC driver's wet dream. There was something for everyone and most all of the racers were very friendly.

With the constant abuse the trucks took, the only break of the day was Ed's truck in the 1st heat with a split rear arm. He had it back up and running by the 2nd heat. As much as I tried to catch Ed, he was always about 1 second faster per lap. Ted was surprisingly a very good driver considering he has never raced on an off road track before. All in all it was a fun day with good racing and great people.

I'm going to ask the 'track newbie' question. What is the carpet for on the downside of that jump for?

I believe it is there to help soften the landing and add grip. The Slashes had to double single the triple jump, but the 1/10 buggies and trucks were clearing it with no issue. Before they added carpet and redesigned the track, there were many cars that were breaking off the triple.

Man, that track looks fun as hell! I wish I had been able to go to there and race with you all then. Looks like everyone had a blast! Nice work on the pics and vids too! I would LOVE to see something like that here. I want to know if those were set up as stock and if so what batteries was everyone typically running? If I could get my slash to jump like that I would be REALLY happy!

The Slash class was a spec class, so most everyone was running the stock motor and ESC. There was no tech inspection though, and I think one of the guys was running a brushless set-up. Most everyone was also running the larger kit pinion and lipos. I ran 3200mah Peak Racing lipos for the 5 minute heats, and Orion Platinum 4800mah lipo for the 7 minute main. I didn't even need to run the larger pack for the main, the stock motor had so little amp draw that I only used about 1800mah for the main.

The hot set-up was 70 wt front with one hole piston, and 40 wt rear with two hole piston. Camber set at -2 front and rear, with 0 toe in front. We also trimmed the front fenders to prevent the front wheels from hooking on hard turns.

There always has to be one guy that can't play by the rules.

Thanks for the information Sweetdiesel! Maybe I will look at purchasing a new battery for the mains here. Then I can see how much fun I really can have LOL Thanks again!

Yup, and the stock motor set-up was perfectly fine for the track/conditions. There really wasn't ever a time where I felt I needed more power. More traction maybe but not more power.

No problemo, just passing along info that was given to me. You'll find that the Slash will have much more "punch" with the lipo pack. Just remember to pull it in after it starts to get slow since there is no LVC on the ESC.

Any idea what file format the guy used to upload to YouTube? Also, the original file size he uploaded?

I'm finding it tough to get a vid of any quality on youtube uploaded. They look pretty good on my pc locally, but when I upload and even view the high qual version, they are far from the quality of what's on my local drive.

I'm just wondering if it's the file type I'm using the youtube converts poorly or something. I've been uploading .wmv files with a 3 minute vid being 30 meg.

question for the slash owners...are you guys running servo guards? if so, where did you get it?

Not crashing helps to preserve the stock servo saver. I have not had any issues with mine, but I'm also the slowest driver on the track. LOL
