3 pair of axles broken. Any suggestions on heavy duty replacement axles

Although I still have the stock plastic driveshafts on mine many people like the MIP Heavy-duty driveshafts, Tekno M6 driveshafts, Traxxas CVDs, and the new Traxxas Splined Steel shafts (different from the CVDs).

From what I heard, the MIP ones are near bulletproof, but are pretty heavy. The M6 driveshafts are also very strong, and much lighter than the MIPs, but the steering blocks and rear hub carrier are different than stock, so the aluminum steering block and rear hub carrier cannot be used with the M6 driveshafts. The Traxxas CVDs look very scale, and are fairly strong. However, I have seen people shear the stub axle from the hole where the hex pin goes (cheap part to replace). The new Splined Steel shafts just came out a couple months ago. Some people seem to like them on the Traxxas Forums, but there's not really much I can find about them as of now.

Hope this helps! :)

I didn't even have to read the caption. Just looking at the picture gave a hint at what issue(s) you are having. I gotta hand it to ya...putting a massive 1/8 scale power plant into a 1/10 scale driveline. You have got a good grasp of things that need attention in order to handle the power, I would not worry about weight when it comes to what is needed...you already added a ton of weight just by installing that ESC/motor combo. :thumbs-up:

I’m on 2,200Kv VXL6S. 50T spur 20T pinion. Traxxas steel splined cvds, techno big bone drive shaft, among some other stuff

MIP X-Duty's in mine:

It's a slash chassis but started as a stampede. I run 4S with a blx185 (150A esc) and blx2050kv 4074 motor. Tons of fun!

FLM center diff cup with HR steel 54T spur and 1M weight oil in it:

Tekno big bone in the center and kingheadz motor mount thing with a larger bearing. Also have the 7075 traxxas motor mount plate.

Helped keep it from unloading to the front so bad, but still dumps some power when I get on the throttle a bit too quick. I also have X-01 diffs/out drives (with the i-bar) in the front/rear. I thought the v1 revo used the same stuff and found that that it doesn't. The x-01 outdrives are milled down to 5mm which is what my MIP's were for. I think it was 5mm... either way, what I got for the revo were too big to fit the MIP's.

What are the driveshafts that are pictured here? they look pretty beefy! I just joined RCTalk and I hope I can find a solution to my driveshaft issues.
I gone through Traxxas HD Plastic, Steel Splined, and Heavy Duty. The Traxxas Steel Splined are junk and only lasted about 15 min.
I'm running a Slash 2wd vxl and a Hoss 4x4 vxl

Thank you
I just did a major search and found them. I'll have to try them since everything else I tried failed.

What's your setup?

After going to 4S, the FLM diff cup failed on me. So I got the traxxas newer version they make, traxxas 6780:

Came with 1M in it, but I cleaned that out and put 500K in it. Was still too thick. But I found that my larger wheels/tires seem to be causing the truck to be pretty fragile anyway and I just switched back to 2.8 trenchers. Won't get through grass as good, but hopefully it will make it to the end of a bash day without blowing off shock towers, snapping arms and upper turnbuckles.

They sure look small though:

I have broken 2 of the MIP's in the past month. Likely partly due to the larger tires forcing things to bend further than reasonable, then the joint's in the cvd's bind and break stuff. Both times it was the male end of the cvd where the pin goes through it.

Prior to the tail end of last year and the 3-4 bash sessions of this year, I had been running 2.8 trenchers and in the 3 years up to then that I had MIP's, I only broke one of those like that... or at all. The fact that I broke 2 in a month on the front tells me I'm asking too much of it. Between the 4S power/speed and the large wheels, it just said "NO! DUMMY!"...

I'm just running a Hoss 3S with sledgehammer tires, pretty stock except for the traxxas Heavy Duty driveshafts all around (I broke 3 of the Traxxas Steel Spline Performance driveshafts in about 15 minutes on my vxl hoss & vxl slash). I'm going to start using Spray Graphite for all my CVD joints from now on, and any other place that requires lubrication on the chassis.
