TRAXXAS REVO

I'd like to see one tested by people that really put a truck through the wringer. If something kicks ass, I want to know it, if something sucks ass, I want to know it (not find out the hard way). Cold hard feedback is the best thing to read.

I'll put money on the fact that it'll probably need another $1,200 or so in upgrades including a new mill to make it worthy. BWTH it'll keep a lot of us busy at the bench for a while.

Hmmm, As with any new truck the REVOlt will not be getting my money until I see some end user reviews. RCCA gives jaded reviews since traxxass advertises with them so heavily.

I've got fairly high hopes for the revo. all you guys questioning its durability and electronics paclage, ITS A RACE TRUCK. as I'm sure most of you know, one of the first things a racer does to get the edge on the other guys is to take off un needed weight and get lighter and usually less durable parts. its a sacrifice over durability but its worth it if thats the edge that helps you win the race. traxxas has already taken most of these steps from the factory. it is a low cog race machine designed to go fast around the track and handle any normal obsticle that you thow at it within the parameters of racing. if you bash, jump houses, rock crawl, are not the most exact drivers this isnt the truck for you. if you want a beater truck get a savage or a t-maxx, if you want a pure bread race truck get a revo. traxxas is changing the world of MT racing and it will never be the same. :winnar:

I am getting either a TNX or a Revo for my next nitro model, which ever is cheaper of the two. The only reason the Revo won at the Maxx Challenge is because the TNX's ran out of fuel with only a few turns left before the finish line lol. Steve and his little Revo got lucky.

I think Slaydens revo was almost bone stock and the tnx's had some mods but I'm not too sure...

Yea, or the TNX's could have pitted again and the revo still would have won... That's racing as they say.
20 20 hindsight, you can break it down however you want, but still just conjecture.

TNX's pitted too early if you can understand that. Slaydaddy would tell you the same thing.

Over on the traxxas boards Steve Slayden has been getting race times with the Revo that compete with 1/8th scale buggies. Not sure how many other MT's could do that...

Or they could have run out of gas earlier in the race by doing their last pit later. I understand just fine, thank you. Like I said, conjecture. :music:

looks inovative. I like some of it to be honest. The one thing that would make it not an option on MY buy list is the the balancing incorporates the Ez-start, while good for the newbies it's bad for me. Engine at an angle? Dunno what to think there hmmm they must have tested it is all I can say. We will see how it does. Nice to see they are at least thinking of new things instead of riding the tmaxx till the wheels fell off.

Damn good point! How will that thing work? How does the fuel flow right and how does break in go as you run rich and all that unspent fuel builds up! Anyone that has one needs to let us know how that went!

well... I think I'll go against the grain here, but I dont think the small block is the revo's biggest downfall... ITS THAT BASTERDIZED TQ RADIO THEY PACKAGE WITH ALL THEIR KITS. I duno about you guys... but I would feel pretty embarassed carrying that pos around.............

WOW...i did some forum searching on the REVO...guess this was when it was about to hit the market.
Look at how everyone jumped on and talked the REVO down...now take a look at almost 2 yrs later...how many LOVE the REVO and race and BASH the hell out of them.....hmm...guess Traxxas hit the mark again following the monster kudo's of the T-Maxx years.

And i still agree, Traxxas makes the #1 RTR 1/10 scale MT's on the market and i for one love their products and 2.5R mill...and I still 100% agree with a lot of the replys on there....other manufactures HAD to step up to 1/8 scale and BB mills to TRY to out do Traxxas......
I know the 16 yr old boy down the street is a very unhappy young man every time he runs against my 12 yr old sons Revo...he can't for the life of him figure out why his big bad butt Savage 25 can't out drag race or out handle my sons Revo....."but my trucks got this much more horse power, blah blah"...and my favorite one.."the guy at the LHS says that a Savage is way better than any Traxxas junk Revo"...lol...as he walks home with his truck in his hand...tears in the other...LMAO
He said the other day to me as i was watching them race around..."My Dad's going to buy me one of those Cen 4.6 motors like you got in your Genesis LE"...... I just lol and say "cool"...i didnt have the heart to tell him all about weight to HP ratios, gearing, ect , ect...and that even with 5hp and 3 speed trans...he still had no hope against my boy and his Revo..i know i dont even try to race my son with my Genesis LE...LOL....BUT dont let me catch that Revo sitting still or slow coming out of a corner or its ....Roll the Revo with my 17+ lb truck time..lol....my son really HATES that game(smile).

Not trying to argue your point, but I think the comment about the Savage being a "better" truck is not a total lie.
The Revo might be a faster and better handeling truck, but the HPI engine is easier to tune.
The Savage is also a stronger truck over all.
Trust me when I say that i've owned them both, and know the weak points of both trucks.

man, people are fickle. so much skeptisism about the REVO, now its on top of the world =)

reading the first few posts in this thread was like a blast to the past. funny...
