Just wondering. Most here talk about the Novak or the Mamba. I have noticed Traxxas has the VXL or the Velineon Brushless Power System. Is it as good as the other two I mentioned? I know it is easier to use and the ESC adjusts to all batteries auto maticly (that is I think ).
What you guys/gals think?

The Traxxas brushless system is a decent setup, but unless you run it with a 3 cell 11.1 volt lipo battery you are not going to see the same kind of power and rpm's that you are going to get with a Novak or Castle Creations system and even then both Novak and CC have systems that will far out perform the Traxxas brushless system, and the Novak and CC systems are going to have alot more programable features then the Traxxas system..

I hear a lot of people complain about the Traxxas esc...Wires coming loose, hard to program, and don't last. With the Traxxas esc you still have to set it for lipo or nimh but once it's set for lipo it will automatically adjust from 2s to 3s.

I run a Mamba esc with a Traxxas motor and it has been a solid set up that runs cool and has plenty of get up and go. I also run a Sidewinder 4600 in a Rustler, also a nice basher set up. IMO the Mamba and Sidewinder or both very easy to use and can be set to automatically adjusts itself to different lipo batteries battery, you would want the voltage cutoff disabled to run nimh batteries...Same for the Traxxas. If you buy a Mamba it comes with the usb cable, if you buy a Sidewinder buy the usb for it, you will be very happy you did!

If you want to run on a 6 or 7 cell nimh battery then Novak is what you want! IMO they are the smoothest brushless systems and work flawless with the weaker batteries.

Thanks for the info guys.
Okay, the mamba seems to be the one that is more regularly purchased than the others but I noticed that there are several other brand names people don't mention. Are they that bad or is the Mamba and Novak the most popular?
Also, I noticed that HPI is selling their brushless motor the Flux as well but I haven't seen an ESC that comes with it. Any knowledge on it?

I have a VXL system on it's way today or tomorrow. I'll be running some tests with my Eagletree to find max watts (hp) and other testing parameters. I'll also be able to find out exactly how many Kv the motor is rated for, since in prior discussion there was mention that it is NOT a 3500Kv motor but higher.
